A once in a while situation.
As someone who works remotely, getting to meet the people I just see and speak with online is something I look forward to.
The familiarity and rapport are so obvious, like we get to do this often. The last time we met in person was in September last year.
We missed another team member since she decided not to rebook her flight anymore after we moved our get-together from last week to today.
Typhoon Kristine's remnants
The devastation left by the Typhoon Kristine can still be felt in our province. A lot still don't have homes, and the roads are not yet fully back to normal. When they have just recently pushed away the mud from the road, just a few minutes of rain would mean flood. A few hours of sun would mean dust. 🤪
After accompanying my dad to his check-up, I went to buy some groceries for the kids since I will only be back the following day.
Then they drove me to the bus station.
Meeting the Team
My travel from my province to Manila was surprisingly fast. I met with my colleague who lives near the bus station and we took Grab together to the hotel.
We reached the hotel an hour earlier than the agreed meet-up time, so we hung out at the hotel coffee shop first. Soon, we were joined by another team member, and then we went to the restaurant to meet our boss and her hubs and son for a dinner buffet.
It was a fun dinner full of laughter and exchange of stories. A few times, there was mention of work, but all in all, it was just casual and catching up conversations.
We stayed at the restaurant until the last call. We were actually done eating, but we were just really taking the time to talk and laugh at the table.
We went up to their room for a few minutes. Boss had some gifts for us. Really appreciate her gesture.
We went our separate ways afterward. I took a ride with one of my colleagues going to my sister's place. Thankfully, it was along the way.
