I have heard of Ghost trees, but I have never seen them. This is the first time that I saw this tree, which the locals call it as a ghost tree. It is in a small town called Dahanu in the Maharashtra state of India. A few days back I was in this town for my friend's daughter wedding. We were driving through this path and suddenly my friend said, look at that ghost tree. First I did not understand and I missed even watching it properly, by the time my attention went there our car had already moved ahead. Anyways, we had to cross that path several times since the wedding venue and our stay venue were both at a distance and we had to drive through this road.
The next time we passed then I got down and clicked some pictures. I asked the driver if it was really a haunted tree. So then he told me no, it is not haunted, it is only because of it's pale appearance the local people call it a ghost tree. The main barks of this tree are all pale white and at night time they kind of glow and are clearly visible. It is the only tree like that in the whole area and hence the villagers started calling it a Ghost tree. Also half the year the tree does not have any leaves and the lace it's located that area is very secluded, hence it's got this name Ghost Tree.
When I saw the tree I did not find it so different also. I have seen trees like these. The thing is that in villages and small towns there are lot of superstitious beliefs and anything that comes out different people start speculating over it. The only thing that surprised me that I could find it's information on Google also, means it is famous. To me it looks more like a dying Tree.
We passed by this Tree twice by night time also and yes in the dark it does show up because of it's unique white pale appearance.
