Crochet Rainbow Prisim Gown

in #proofofbrain14 days ago

Hi Hive family, since my introduction post a month ago or thereabout, I’ve been mute here and it’s all because life’s been a lot but it’s all sorted out now and I’m back, hopefully to be more consistent

I finally got to make a multicoloured gown, which I call the RAINBOW PRISIM. Not like it has all the colours of the rainbow yeah, but it gives me that feel because of the colour variants and all. It’s one of the things I’ve had my eyes on for a while and I finally made it and I’m so excited to share it with you alllll.

So, I made this not because I wanted to or because I saw videos similar on Social Media but because I HAD A LOT OF SCRAP YARNS I WANTED TO DO AWAY WITH. I have this bag, filled with scrap yarns and anytime my mum sees that bag she goes like “You won’t make anything to make these yarns disappear?”, “your scrap yarns are becoming a lot”. Really typical of a Nigerian/African mother to think of it.

And I got to think about it one day and I realized the scrap yarns I had at home, damnnnnn! They were a whole lot. Hence, I decided to make something out of it. I thought and thought and thought.
First off, I thought of making a skirt and I actually did start making it a skirt guys

Arghhhhhhh!!!!! Switching colours weren’t fun for me at all. I became really tired and exhausted at some point because, I thought “It can’t be a whole me that’s switching colours oh and thinking of which dark or light shade to use at a point”.
I thought of giving up at some point but Omor (in a Nigerian tone)!!!!!! I looked at how many colours I had already started with and said “Yhutee, no you can’t stop. Not after all these colour switching, haba”. Hive Brethren, believe you me, I cried!

Making this wasn’t as rosy as I thought it’d be. I took the regular measurements of making a gown and all. Mind you, this was to be a skirt initially. I made it as a skirt but later changed my mind when it was done to make it into a gown at once and I haven’t regretted it because Fam, what’s all this beauty????????????????

Things I used to make this gown are:

  1. A lot of scrap yarn guys, I mean a whole lot of it.
  2. 4.00mm hook for the bottom and 3.5 for the waist to the burst part as well as the ruffles
  3. A 5.00mm hook for the straps
  4. Stitch markers of course, I would have been stuck without those
  5. Scissorssss, how would I cut em yarns without it
  6. A lighter, to burn off the ends
  7. A measurement tape
  8. Lots of self motivation guys
  9. And I won’t forget, FOOOOOOD and MOVIESSSSSSS because these kept me sane throughout the period of making this dress

PS: These pictures belong to me and were taken by me with my mobile phone.
