But not every trip brings them.
Before the trip, you probably need to clearly define what exactly is meant by this phrase and, at a minimum, invite them by sending them a telegram, calling, or sending them a message in any messenger.
Otherwise, they may simply not know you're expecting them and will be preoccupied with their own, more important matters.
It's strange that people expecting vivid impressions, for example, at a seaside resort, suddenly find themselves spending time in the pouring rain under an awning instead of experiencing them on the beach. They don't appreciate this situation at all and very rarely consider it a true, vivid experience.
