Today I found this interesting chart talking with someone in X (twitter).
It shows the revenue per employee for some of the biggest and most surprising companies. And honestly, it tells a lot about how the world is changing. Hyperliquid, a crypto exchange, is making over 100 million dollars per employee. That’s insane efficiency. Tether, the issuer of the biggest stablecoin, is right behind with 93 million per employee. These two crypto companies are basically rewriting how business works.
Then you look at OnlyFans, a platform built on creator content, doing almost 38 million per employee. That’s more than 10 times better than Nvidia, one of the strongest companies in AI and chips. Apple and Meta look small in comparison, making only 2 to 3 million per employee. It’s crazy to think that these huge corporations with billions in revenue and tens of thousands of employees are less efficient than small crypto-native or internet-native projects.
What this really shows is that the new economy is digital-first and extremely lean. You don’t need thousands of workers or big offices anymore. You just need code, good product-market fit, and global access. Crypto and Web3 companies are showing a model where efficiency, automation, and decentralization win over bureaucracy and scale.
It also says something deeper: money in the digital world moves faster and more efficiently than ever before. Tether, for example, is basically a global digital dollar bank without a single physical branch. Hyperliquid is an exchange with a small team doing more revenue per head than any Wall Street institution.
If this continues, the traditional tech model will look outdated soon. We’re entering an age where small, agile teams powered by technology and global liquidity can outperform giant corporations. It’s not about size anymore, it’s about speed, intelligence, and being global from day one. The gap between Web2 and Web3 productivity is now too big to ignore. This is just the beginning of a new financial and business era.
