Collection Highlights - "The Siren" Elemental Privateer Series #2
I am back with another chunky 2 oz piece of pirate silver from their privateer series. Last time I showed the third release in the series which was the captain, this time it's the second release in the series known as the siren. It looks like they made just shy of 62,000 of these at the time. They were immensely popular when they came out because they were the chunky 2 oz silver rounds with a great High relief design and the first release was such a popular round that people wanted to collect the whole series.
They designed a very beautiful see siren singing towards a ship full of sailors that I believe are pirates by looking at the jolly Roger off the back of the ship. They kept the reverse of the coin designed the same with the no prey no pay they'll go surrounding the skull with the ship wheel and rope
Obverse
I think they made a beautiful coin. Showing the siren sitting on the rock with your tail wrapped around her singing to the ship full of sailors trying to get them to crash on the reef and sink their boat and treasure to pull them down to Davy Jones's locker.
This one well very pretty I think for me gets a little busy with the clouds and the waves and the ship and it's a little crowded. I think it might have been better to have clear skies than all the clouds it might have given the details a bit more pop.
Reverse
Sameer versus the prior going, it's a great skull inside of a ship wheel with rope and brings to mind very much everything that we're used to seeing with pirates. Maps, shipping, death the only thing really missing is some gold coins.
These photos didn't come out great, I think it has to do with the 2 oz airtights they're in making it a little harder to get a good focus but either way I'm glad I got these at the time there's some of my favorite rounds..
