RE: Voo and chill

in #investing3 months ago

Thanks a lot for posting this. The idea that someone spending less than an hour a week can beat what pros do is absurd. Heck if it was my full time job I doubt I could beat the S&P 500. It is nice to get this reality check every so often.

I am an extremely active trader, and I would still recommend just buying VOO/VT/FXAIX any of the good quality SP500 ETFs and just sitting on it. Perhaps add some VXUS for International exposure, but most people will under perform when picking stocks themselves. I could say the same thing with crypto and holding BTC.

Yeah I have read some of your stuff that mentions you are in a trading group. I am just starting to really understand trading (mainly crypto). I dabbled in stock options many years ago (before I discovered crypto) and it was way too stressful for me. When I got a call in the middle of the night saying I owed a ton of money on part of an Iron Butterfly it scared the shit out of me (it wasn't factoring in I was covered on the other side). Since then, I try to be really cautious as it is not worth the stress. Bitcoin and chill is a great motto. Never really thought of VOO and chill but it is really the same idea. Too late for me with the VOO but definitely something to teach my kids and students. I'm thinking when I retire in a few years, I might spend a lot more time learning and trading. But for now, chilling is not a bad move. Seriously though, it was an important idea to share. I hope young people listen to you. (Even though I know it is not financial advice).

Oh wait it was an Iron Condor. Iron Butterfly sings "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" lol. Kind of a differnece. Ever see Manhunter?
