I think right now most Hive users are more focused on content creation than on engaging with others.
Maybe they hope that the more content they can produce, the more they’ll earn. I don’t know…

What’s clear is that I really enjoy leaving comments on the articles I read (even though I don’t comment on every post I read). It’s a way to show appreciation for the author and also to open the door to new friendships.
