A New Chapter

What's this? A post from Dibbs?

Yes, yes it is!

It's been a long stretch of inactivity, but I'm still here and finally settling in to my new home and routine. A lot has changed for me over the last year and a half and unfortunately left me with little time to write and keep my blog active. I've moved twice, changed careers, dealt with some personal mental health challenges, some personal financial challenges, and helped support family as they face their own health issues and prepared to retire and move away.

Change is good though, through chaos and turmoil we grow and evolve. While I haven't been able to focus on writing, I've put all my spare energy and time into building. It's been a long road to get here:

My new home, a place I have built myself, with minimal resources and only occasional help from a friend or family member. It is still a work in progress but I am officially moved in. I am generating electricity, catching water, generating biogas, and connected to the internet. Completely off grid.

If you have read my blogs before, you might remember a couple of posts from last summer as I began the process of clearing trees from my build site and explored the 5 acres with my daughter. It looks very different now with the trees cleared, domes built, and my stone driveway.

I've taken hundreds of pictures throughout the building process and will be sorting through them and posting them now that we are getting settled in. I want to document the whole thing. I'm pretty proud of what I've been able to achieve even though it's not perfect and isn't yet finished. A project like this will keep me busy but now that we are moved in I can make time to relax a little and get back to other passions of mine.

I'll be getting back into my creative writing and the Scholar and Scribe Community posts and contests over the coming days and weeks as well. Huge shoutouts to @grocko @kemmyb and @jfuji for their efforts to keep Scholar and Scribe chugging along in the meantime. Their commitments to encourage engagement, keep contests running, and continue to post content has been amazing. I've been in contact with them and curating only sporadically, but they and other authors have kept the community alive.

I'm happy to say that despite my absence I can come back with my account and the Scholar and Scribe Community account continuing to grow through passive returns and curation. We've been continuing to accrue BEE from mining and curation. Scholar and Scribe tokens are still being awarded to posts using our tags and generated through the mining contract. Once I have had some time to catch up on things here I'll take a look at how to best push forward with our tokens and community.

Glad to be back and start a New Chapter here on Hive. ;)

hey ^^ it's nice to see something from you again! curious to see what you've been building and how you went into sustainable living. is that dome it?

Thanks, There are two domes connected together with each dome for different things!

Good to see you back!

Thanks! It's been a wild time, but I feel pretty good about where I'm at now with the build and able to start shifting gears a little!

Change is good...

Agreed! May not look so at first but in the long run, it leads to growth and new opportunities. Well done on moving into your new home. Glad to have you back! 🙂

Thanks Kemmy! I appreciate all you do with Scholar and Scribe, I still have more to do but can refocus a little now that I can live here. <3

Well done. I am glad to see some reaching their dreams. I wanted a house my way since I was a teenager, but I always found excuses. Just a bit more money, just a bit more comfort, and now I am getting close to 50, with nothing on sight. But I still hope. This life or the next.

A lot of things happened at once that led me to this, some good, some bad, but without them I don't know if I would have managed to get here. If you have a goal or plan in mind sometimes the best thing is to start pushing towards it regardless. I wish you the best of luck and hope you can achieve your dream home!

Nice to see some new from you buddy! Hopefully life is smiling to you!
