Excitement was in the air. Last Friday the 21st , my first-grade students had an experience that will remain etched in their hearts and minds: a visit to the University Radio of UNERG University in San Juan de los Morros, Guárico State! This outing was not just a trip, but an educational adventure that allowed them to explore the fascinating world of telecommunications and its impact on our daily lives.

For these visits, we split the group in two so we could enjoy it at a leisurely pace, take care of the little ones, and address transportation issues.

From the moment we arrived at the radio station, the excitement was evident. Curiosity shone in their eyes as they prepared to learn about a topic that, although new to them, is fundamental to our society today.

The visit was part of their learning project focused on telecommunications and was a perfect opportunity to connect theory with practice. The children were eager to discover how a radio works, how signals are transmitted, and how technology has transformed the way we communicate.

The Magic of Radio

Upon entering the radio studio, the children felt like real broadcasters. They were given the opportunity to see the microphones, sound consoles, and headsets. A member of the radio team welcomed them and explained how a radio program is produced, from planning to broadcast.

The children listened attentively, asking curious questions and showing genuine interest. Their excitement increased when they had the opportunity to speak into the microphone. What a joy to see them express themselves with such enthusiasm! Each of them had the chance to be a broadcaster for a moment, communicating with the world through the magic of sound. At that moment, one of my younger representatives who accompanied us also took the opportunity to sit down and use the equipment to send a greeting.

Since we introduced the topic in the classroom, I have emphasized that one of the spaces I like most is the radio, since there, appearances take a backseat; it is not necessary to shout to be heard in many homes, cars, and various places. On the contrary, radio brings us closer to that prevailing need to be silent in order to listen, something so necessary these days.

Learning about Telecommunications

During the visit, the children learned about the importance of telecommunications in our daily lives. They discovered how these technologies connect us, inform us, and entertain us. Radio, as a means of communication, plays a crucial role in disseminating news, music, and culture.

One of the most valuable aspects of this visit was the connection between what they learned and their surroundings. The children were able to see how radio is not only a communication tool but also a medium that reflects the culture and stories of their community. They learned that radio can be a voice for those without access to other media, and that each program has the potential to educate, inform, and entertain.

It's worth noting that many of my representatives were unaware that this radio station was located in the center of San Juan de los Morros, as the university is located a short distance away.
Seeing my children enjoy this experience was a priceless gift. The laughter, curiosity, and enthusiasm they displayed throughout the visit were contagious. Every corner of the station seemed to be filled with their joy, and every question they asked reflected their desire to learn and grow.

The visit was not only a lesson in telecommunications, but also an opportunity to strengthen their bonds. Learning together in such a dynamic and stimulating environment fostered teamwork and collaboration. The children shared their impressions and encouraged each other, creating memories they will carry with them for a long time.

Personally, it's a dream of mine to have a space on the radio station where children can express their ideas and the lessons that all the teachers, with great effort, bring to the classroom every week.

This experience taught them that learning can be fun, interactive, and relevant to their daily lives.

La emoción estaba en el aire. El pasado viernes 21, mis niños de primer grado vivieron una experiencia que quedará grabada en sus corazones y mentes: ¡una visita a la Radio Universitaria de la Universidad UNERG en San Juan de los Morros, Estado Guárico! Esta salida no solo fue un paseo, sino una aventura educativa que les permitió explorar el fascinante mundo de las telecomunicaciones y su impacto en nuestra vida cotidiana.

Para estas visitas dividimos el grupo en dos, para poder disfrutar con calma, cuidar de los pequeños y por el tema transporte.

Desde el momento en que llegamos a la radio, el entusiasmo era visible. La curiosidad brillaba en sus ojos mientras se preparaban para aprender sobre un tema que, aunque nuevo para ellos, es fundamental en nuestra sociedad actual.

La visita formó parte de su proyecto de aprendizaje enfocado en las telecomunicaciones, y fue una oportunidad perfecta para conectar la teoría con la práctica. Los niños estaban ansiosos por descubrir cómo funciona una radio, cómo se transmiten las señales y cómo la tecnología ha transformado la manera en que nos comunicamos.

La Magia de la Radio

Al ingresar al estudio de radio, los pequeños se sintieron como verdaderos locutores. Les dieron la oportunidad de ver los micrófonos, las consolas de sonido y los auriculares. Un miembro del equipo de la radio les dio la bienvenida y les explicó cómo se produce un programa de radio, desde la planificación hasta la transmisión.

Los niños escucharon atentamente, haciendo preguntas curiosas y mostrando un interés genuino. La emoción aumentó cuando tuvieron la oportunidad de hablar frente al micrófono. ¡Qué alegría verlos expresarse con tanto entusiasmo! Cada uno de ellos tuvo la oportunidad de ser locutor por un momento y comunicándose con el mundo a través de la magia del sonido. En ese momento una de mis representantes más jóvenes que nos acompaño también aprovecho el momento de sentarse y usar los equipos para enviar un saludo.

Desde que iniciamos el tema en el aula de clases les hacía mucho hincapié que uno de los espacios que mas me agrada es la radio, ya que allí, las apariencias pasan a un segundo plano, no es necesario gritar para ser escuchados en muchas casas, autos y diversos lugares. Por el contrario, la radio nos acerca a esa necesidad imperante de hacer silencio para escuchar, algo tan necesario en nuestros días.

Aprendiendo sobre Telecomunicaciones

Durante la visita, los niños aprendieron sobre la importancia de las telecomunicaciones en nuestra vida diaria. Descubrieron cómo estas tecnologías nos conectan, nos informan y nos entretienen. La radio, como medio de comunicación, juega un papel crucial en la difusión de noticias, música y cultura.

Uno de los aspectos más valiosos de esta visita fue la conexión entre lo aprendido y su entorno. Los niños pudieron ver cómo la radio no solo es una herramienta de comunicación, sino también un medio que refleja la cultura y las historias de su comunidad. Aprendieron que la radio puede ser una voz para los que no tienen acceso a otros medios, y que cada programa tiene el potencial de educar, informar y entretener.

Cabe destacar que muchos de mis representantes desconocían que esta radio estaba ubicada en el centro de San Juan de los morros, ya que la universidad queda un poco retirada de este sitio.
Ver a mis niños disfrutar de esta experiencia fue un regalo invaluable. La risa, la curiosidad y el entusiasmo que mostraron durante toda la visita fueron contagiosos. Cada rincón de la radio parecía estar impregnado de su alegría, y cada pregunta que hicieron reflejaba su deseo de aprender y crecer.

La visita no solo fue una lección sobre telecomunicaciones, sino también una oportunidad para fortalecer los lazos entre ellos. Aprender juntos en un ambiente tan dinámico y estimulante fomentó el trabajo en equipo y la colaboración. Los niños compartieron sus impresiones y se animaron mutuamente, creando recuerdos que llevarán consigo por mucho tiempo.

Personalmente es un sueño que tengo, tener un espacio en la radio para que los niños puedan expresar su ideas y los aprendizajes que semanalmente todos los maestros con mucho esfuerzos llevan a las aulas de clases.

Esta experiencia les enseñó que el aprendizaje puede ser divertido, interactivo y relevante para su vida diaria.
