This was an excellent read, Stuart! We never get to find out what caused the 20 degree tilt, but then we are not supposed to... Life is never the same again for poor Filmore. I loved the deeper layer in this story: Filmore only sees people as he used to when he views them through a purple filter or contact lenses. it reminds me of seeing the world through rose-tinted glasses. It's not a realistic view of the world, but it's easier to live with than reality, which is off-kilter and disconnected. And then the final nail in the coffin: The realisation that his wife was at her happiest with another man - one who would go on to cheat on her and break her heart. It's ironic and painfully sad, but he chooses to view her through tinted lenses to keep alive the illusion of their happiness together.
