Hello #indiaunited, I am excited to welcome you to my blog again.

Theme: "A Habit That Changed My Life”

A Habit is a repeated action by an individual. Habits can be negative or positive. Some people unknowingly form bad habits that impact them negatively.

In this activity, we were asked to discuss a habit that changed our lives. Finding myself as a working-class lady meant a lot to me. While it brought joy, it also opened me up to certain things.

First, I lost control of sleeping and waking up at any time. Going anywhere I want at any time and anyhow I want it. I began to live a restricted life, sort of. I sleep early to wake up early. I go out for visits on Sundays and sometimes on Saturday after resting and doing some house chores and shopping. My freedom to an unplanned lifestyle was lost.

One thing I battled as I resumed work was lateness. I was finding it difficult to wake up early and leave for work early to arrive early. Most times, I arrive at my workplace late and sometimes early. It became a concern for me, and amid the brewing issues it was causing for me. I sat down, looked at myself through a mirror, and advised myself. I told myself the truth and decided to turn a new leaf.

From that day, I set my waking alarm to 5:30 am. Though it was a struggle to discipline myself, I resolved not to give up. Sleep is usually very sweet during that time, but I remained resolute, and I pulled through.

My Alarm rings at 5:30 am, I give a little time to have my reflection, stretch myself here and there, pray, and start preparing. I put on songs that will jive me up while I prepare. Steadily waking up by 5:30 am has helped me to maintain my calmness while going to work. I no longer rush or panic like I previously did. Waking up in the quietness of the morning has become a part of me; even if I’m not going to work, I must wake up by that time.

Funny enough, waking up early has been built into my subconscious. It has given me mental stability and a permanent early-comer attendee at my workplace. It has taken away the anxiety of being in a rush to get to work early or arriving late for appointments. I now start my day quietly and calmly with strength and set that pace for my day.

I wake up stronger and mentally ready for the day's activity. Waking up early has taught me that intentional and concerted effort towards my objectives is attainable, especially with consistency.

It made me the controller of my time and day, gave me a complete change of attitude and mindset towards being a serial latecomer, and made me a better version of myself.
