A stroke is a medical condition in which the blood supply to the brain is reduced drastically which deprives the brain of oxygen and nutrients.
When this happens, there will be a damage to the brain cells as well as loss of brain function.

There are three major types of stroke. The first type of stroke is the ischemic stroke which occurs when there is no much or reduced blood supply to the brain. This is the most common type of all strokes. Secondly, we have the hemorrhagic type of stroke. This occurs when a blood vessel which exists in the brain ruptures and causes bleeding which spreads through the surrounded tissue.

Lastly, we have the transient ischemic attack stroke which exists when there is a temporary blockage of blood flow to the brain. This can as well be called mini-stroke.

What are the things that causes stroke? So many things that we may never think about or what we feel are common ailments are those things which causes stroke. Example of factors that causes stroke are uncontrolled high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, family history and so much more.
They may not directly cause stroke and that’s why they are also called risk factors which means that anyone who has any of the ailments listed above is likely to suffer from stroke.
Other causes and risk factors of stroke are artial fibrillation, cardiovascular disease, age and so much more.

Stroke comes with its symptoms as well just like every other ailment. When someone begins to feel numb, weak or even paralysis in some parts of the body like the arm, face or leg, that person is likely to be suffering from stroke.
Also, a person who’s having a stroke will experience trouble speaking. Many people who have stroke usually find it difficult to utter a word or give a speech. It is either they are not audible or their words are not clear enough for people to hear them.
Blurry vision is a symptom as well. So when having a blurry vision, it may be stroke. There are other symptoms like trouble walking, severe headache and so much more.

The diagnosis of stroke can be discovered just with a series of tests. Even with a physical examination of the movement of the parts of the body, speech an other symptoms of stroke, one can easily be diagnosed with stroke.
Aside from that, blood tests, MRI imagery, CT scan or carotid ultrasound can be done so as to diagnose stroke.

How can stroke be treated? Firstly, we have to know that stroke needs immediate attention. This is why emergency care is the first treatment that has to be given to anyone who is having a stroke. There are some medications called anticoagulants which stops the blood clots from forming. Just as I said, the blood clot is what prevents proper flow of the blood to the brain and that had to be stopped first.

A surgery can be done as well. With the surgery, the blood clots will be manually removed or the brain fluid can be drained and that helps to treat stroke. Then, a rehabilitation can be done for people with stroke. This is a type of therapy that can help them regain the skills of the part of body affected.

Only a few people recover fully from stroke while others are likely to live with long-term disabilities. Nevertheless, people still live happily with stroke. They can live a normal life but there will be a part of the body which will be numb.
