RE: Where Does This End?

The sad thing is, no one wants to see reality anymore.

I am starting with this line first because it just hits differently! Some people seem to believe living a lie is just the best as long as no one knows. They make up a well furnished facade, put it on because let's be frank.. that's what society wants, init?

This is why people go for plastic surgery when they are perfectly beautiful the way they are. They prefer making their lips bigger, having their nose done, and all because... apparently, it's better.

Speaking on buying things online, I always carefully analyse what I am buying because like you said, manipulation happens especially with the use of AI and once you've deposited the money into their account, that's the end of it all.

When will this all end? I don't know.
Would it even get better? I am not sure.

But what I do know is that a lot of people are getting lost in their online fantasy and made up realities.

I had a discussion once with someone from your country, and unfortunately you don't have the buyer protection most developed countries have. In my country, you can send any item back in 14 - 30 days, depending on the company. This has to be covered by law and I hope you get there one day as otherwise the state is covering up all the online schemes and scams.

Regarding the rest, I agree with you. Everyone wants to show a version of them that does not exist and slowly things are getting out of hand. There's a saying, according to which you have to take everything with a pinch of salt, but that pinch is getting bigger and bigger every day.

It is always written there that you can "return" if the things delivered aren't the same as what you ordered, but it is a lot of work. It is so frustrating that you'd wish you just kept the goods. So, yeah... I do hope we get there one day.
