Springtime in Vermont is a wonderful time of the year.
Flowers bursting through the drab, grayness of winter.
Its like the saying "absence makes the heart grow fonder", you really appreciate the Spring after a long, hard winter.
Our apple trees are starting to bloom 🙂
We have planted 10 apple trees over the last 4 years.
We plant bare root trees which are very small (and inexpensive 😉) but the downside is they take several years to get going. Well they grow vigorously from the start but the apples take several years. They are 3 - 5 ft tall when planted. Some are just whips. Which is just what it sounds like, a single twig, no branches.
Spring also starts with a long to-do list of things you think about wanting to do over the winter. High on our list was redoing some of our beds to keep the weeds out.
We wanted to do it right with landscaping fabric to block out the weeds covered with non-organic material (rocks lol).
We also did the pathway up to our front door. It was rainy when we did this project and the rocks we picked up for the job were muddy. It actually looks better now, the continuing rain has washed the rocks clean 🙂
