Monday in Photos

Mushroom

Today's post is a collection of photos from my Monday. First a lovely mushroom growing in the forest. I was hauling a wheelbarrow full of yard waste into the woods to dump and saw this beauty.

Blackeyed susans

I've posted lots of Blackeyed Susan pictures this summer but this one especially caught my eye. It is growing between some clumps of ornamental grass. Late summer has turned the grass brown framing the yellow flowers nicely.

Coneflower

Purple coneflowers are holding on but looking a little ragged.

Dahlia

My dahlias are going strong. They are one of the last flowers I have to bloom. This picture caught some morning dew still on the bloom.

Sedum

I love taking photos but beyond the photography I use photos to keep track of my yard. I don't think I have posted any photos of my sedum or live forever. I got these from my family in Kansas that had transplanted them from my uncles place in Wisconsin. They are well travelled 😆

Tomatos and basil

Enjoying the summer with tomatoes and basil from the garden. I put these on some eggs this morning.

Mushroom 2

After finishing up outside, I was looking at my photos and I think this mushroom may be a wine cap @sketch.and.jam ?

Lake

I'll finish the post with a picture I take everyday. Lake Dunmore.

You are definitely right about that mushroom being a winecap. Now its time to start a bee box with those winecaps around. Research has been done linking these mushrooms to bee health, possibly killing off bee mites when they drink from the mycelium. https://fungi.com/blogs/articles/bee-friendly-research-update-3

This was a one off. At least right now. I'll keep an eye out. Great article. I love the photo of the check for bee research with the bee researchers covered in bees lol

Haha yeah they paint themselves in some kind of bee hormone from the queen to trick them into landing on them like that. Not for the squeemish.

Nice collection!I'll have to have my helpers get some fresh mozzarella and we can harvest tomatoes and basil for lunch...

Thanks. We love that combo sometimes add a little balsamic vinegar 😋

Yup, I have that too...

This mushroom is missing from your plate 😀
Only basil is growing well this year in Montreal, tomatoes not enough sun in my yard.
Enjoy your day

I realized I should have harvested it after doing some research 🙁 our tomatoes are struggling a bit also. But struggling is a relative term we are usually overwhelmed this time of year lol

I gave up on the tomatoes; not enough sun, too many squirrels 😀
