Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey is a beloved children's book. In the Boston Public Gardens there is a sculpture tribute to the book.
The book is actually set in the Boston Public Gardens so the sculpture is perfect.
The book was published in 1941 and won the Caldecott Medal the following year. An award presented annually for the outstanding American picture book for children.
As is the tradition these days with public sculptures, the ducklings were decorated when we visited. They are all wearing tutus courtesy the Boston Ballet.
The sculpture beautifully blends with the pathways wandering through the Boston Public Gardens.
