Take me to church, Sint-Hedwigskathedraal Berlin

Hello photo and travel lovers,

In Berlin I visited a church. A very big one. Well from inside it looked very big. Probably because it was just one big open space, that it looked very big. Massive high ceilings and every thing was completely white.

The outside of the cathedral, looks like an old roman building with a copper dome, and that dome is clearly visible from inside. As I write this now, I realize that I don't even have pictures of the outside of the cathedral. It was cold, rainy and snowing. It felt really oke not to take pictures outside back then.

Look how sterilize this is. A bit to much and to modern in my taste.

But it was very cool to take pictures in here. the down was a challenge to get it in frame completely. I was even laying on the floor to take this shot.

A beautiful silver organ, very futuristic.

These chairs didn't look very comfortable. Bit they did make a nice composition. To bad the back row wasn't in line with the rest.

And below all that white there is this basement. Basements in churches always give me the creeps.
I am always thinking, what kind of bad things did they do down there in the old day's?

It's looks like an official church down here. They probably have church down here in winter. it's less costly to heat up this small room instead of the one upstairs.

And down here they had a little exhibition of all the gold stuff that the church is worse shipping. I always think that they need to sell these things and really do something good for the poor people. But that is probably only me thinking like that.

And if I see these kind of things I always think of how they could have sacrificed "things" in the old days. Like why do they need a holy water basin as big as this one? What are you doing with that. I probably watch to many movies or something 😅

Yes I was here in winter, just after Christmas, and the nativity scene was still there.

It was time to get out of here before I burst in to flames 😅

It looks modern and minimalist but for me, it doesn't have the typical church feel or atmosphere that I'm used to seeing. I can just notice the presence of different shapes and forms but it seems that I can't attach any feeling to it. It does have that futuristic concept; perhaps this suits the liking of Generation Alpha more...🙂 Well, to each his own!

I was even laying on the floor to take this shot.

It shows that you are truly a photography enthusiast. 😊

Haha, I do a lot for a good photograph. I thought it was a nice church. But that is probably because I really didn't know what I was going to see in there. it was a big surplice

Hehe yes it was worth it because the shots captured the beauty of this structure.

Yes, it is a nice church... On a second thought, perhaps what they want to emphasize is a place of worship without too many traditional decorations. 🙂

Terrible, but a good symbol of the state Germany is in.

Every body it's own taste

a round church, that's something new! and also all white and not like grey or orange

I saw on google maps that they have painted it recently. In a couple of years the candels and holy smokes are making it yellow again 😅

Very modern looking! And very different from the historical looking ones in my recent trip to Europe.
