Panning photography in Berlin.

in Photography Lovers13 days ago

Hello Photo lovers,

During my stay in Berlin I was also experimenting with panning photography.
And that's pretty difficult to follow a moving object. Because when you take the photo, the shutter will close and then you are not able to look trough the lens any more. And you need a steady hand to. This because the ideal shutter speed is between 1/20 and 1/60 of a second.

s you see here, these two cars are not in focus. I didn't follow them at the correct speed.

And sometimes you have a sharp car but then the composition is bad. In this frame there is a big billboard in the way.

this car was a bit to far away and I don't like the background here. I needed a longer shutterspeed to create more movement in the background.

This location was very nice to try this out. the cars were close enough and there were nice lights in the trees. To bad there were busses buss stop here so the busses were continuously stopping here.

Here is the bus stop sign in frame. This would have been a cool picture because there are not many colorful cars around any more. This blue one would have stand out perfectly.

And I think this was the best of the day. Nice composition, the car is sharp and the background has a good movement. But i am not sure about the yellow sign in frame. Maybe I need to do some photo shopping with that.

Witch picture do you think is the best?

You're right about it being hard to catch just right. I remember learning this (Way, way) back in high school when we were still on 35mm film camera's. Only played with it a couple times back then because it wasted so many pictures on a roll (limited to 24 or 36 shots per roll) and then having to wait a week until it was developed and printed at the FotoMat.
Nice job on these and like the comparison FAQs.

I can imagine that with film roll's. That's also pretty expensive I think. Did you mange to get a good one out of those sessions? And what do you men by with that last sentence? "... like the comparison FAQs"

i really love how this style of pictures comes out of you...imho the best one is the last, the first would have been better but i don't like the van intruder

Yes indeed, bu the van is also in focus. One car in focus is already hard 😂

yep i dont like the van in focus, it distract from the main subject 😜

It was a good session there 😅💪

I really love panning Shots, but I don'n know how ...... and I would like to know how and I would like to do something like this excellent

Just point your camera to a moving object and move your camera at the same speed as that object and press the shutter. Try to get the shutterspeed of the camera as low as 1/20 of a second and if you are lucky you will get a picture like this
