Many might find these photos sad. That's often what comes out of a black and white photo, by the way: nostalgia.
But above all, I find that these photos create an empathetic bond between the subject and us. Empathy that highlights our common humanity. I'm convinced that every person on Earth, whatever their origin, can have the same conclusion.

Some people don't like black and white or consider it sad, I agree with you on that. However, we know only with monochrome you can shut out the noise and fully focus on the details.
