Activities That Helps Stabilize My Mood || Kiss- Blog- Ideas #91

in The MINIMALISTlast year

Sometimes we get this unsettling feeling and some of the things that make us worry could be owing to a whole of factors ranging from stress to financial problems, and many more.

One thing that I know for sure is that overthinking them sometimes makes it much worse than it is.

From personal experience whenever I find myself feeling unsettled, I try as much as possible to keep an open mind even when I don't have the answers I need at the moment. What I do is spend time engaging in activities that will help uplift my spirits and some of these include;

Listening To Music

Music has done a lot for me and in terms of helping me stabilize my mood, music has helped in lots of times than I could count.

Sometimes I would just like to use an earpiece together with my phone and allow the sounds of music to soothe me.

Other times, I can just use my old MP3 player and listen to some music. Here all that is needed is to connect it to my phone via Bluetooth and I would in turn play music and sometimes dance to the tunes of the music.

I can either do that or watch movies especially comedy-filled movies with a touch of action in them.

Reading

Well, they say knowledge is power and I do very much enjoy engaging in it. I can read anything I lay my hands on. It could be novels, magazines, textbooks, journals, and many more. Even when I find out what I am reading is boring, I continue reading it and sometimes it does help me sleep off, especially after having a stressful day.

What makes reading more fun is that I could also decide to read from some authors online, so most times with my phone in hand I could do a lot of things that would help stabilize my mood.

Taking My Favorite Drink

I have said more times than I could count that I enjoy taking coffee as it helps me stay calm and improves my mood. This is one of the reasons why I always make sure I fix myself a cup of coffee at least once a day, sometimes I take more cups of coffee.

What do you do when people's words bother you?

I asked myself this question some time ago and the only answer I could give myself is that I have learned that in most cases silence is golden. Why waste time exchanging hurtful words with people when you could use that time to be more productive? No matter how quiet and reserved you are, you will come in contact with some people who get a kick out of teasing/taunting you and if don't stay calm you might end up making matters worse.

I could remember a time someone got on my nerves and even after explaining to her that I knew nothing about what she accused me of back then, she never believed me and I could remember getting angry that I almost lost control.

I had to quickly leave the scene and go home. On getting home, I knew I had to find something to keep me busy as I was still fuming with anger. I looked around and saw some dirty laundry and I immediately got to work. I started washing and I realized that I already forgot about what was getting me angry way before I finished washing.

We should always remember that there is a constant need for us to maintain self-control in many situations even when it seems impossible to do.

Life is full of twists and turns but I believe we have the power to create our sanctuary because when we calm our minds, only then will we find answers to our questions.

Thank you all for reading.

Hey @rukkie, here is a little bit of BEER from @pixresteemer for you. Enjoy it!

Do you want to win SOME BEER together with your friends and draw the BEERKING.

Your tricks are quite nice but calming down with coffee isn't for me at all. Coffee contains caffeine and I'm someone that finds it difficult to take naps, so taking coffee always will definitely affect my night rest.

Anyways it works well for you that's the most important thing

I agree. We should all do what works for us.

I appreciate you stopping by.

The pleasure is mine

Silence is golden.

I agree with you. I had to apply this principle this morning: I was working from the library and sat next to a man who seemed angry with his keyboard. I was going to ask him if he could try typing without punching the keyboard, but I shifted to the next seat as it became available.
I know my question would have resulted in total disruption in the library, so I tried hard to control my temper:)

I applaud your decision to move away from him. Sometimes it's best to just avoid people like that.

I am glad you enjoyed my story.Thank you so much for your support.

You're very welcome, and thank you!
I've come a long way, I suppose 😁

My dear.
That's a great therapy.

Me i love my own quiet time.

It true, we have to practice self control. It helps us a lot better. Even if we’re not at fault, we should always stay cool.
What helps me stabilize my mood is watching kdrama and listening to gospel music. Gospel music help me connect more to God and listening to it gives me happiness no matter how sad I am, it lightens up my mood.

What book is that?

Reading a novel, drinking some water or moving over to a dark, very calm corner is enough to get my mood stabilized. I wouldn't want to speak or act rashly and get mad at myself for that. It's best to stay silent or look for something to take the mind of things.
