“Fly Like An Eagle!”🤗 My Actifit Report Card: June 15 2026

“Fly Like An Eagle!”🤗
“Your Ready Silvertop!”😊
Hmmm………………….😳
David my Flight instructor, always dressed professionally with a button up shirt and tie…………
Today he looked like he had just come from his University of Cincinnati graduation ceremony. He ranked top of his class………he Graduated “Maga Cum Laude”!😇
We were practicing “Touch and Go’s”………….
Takeoffs, then landing, then back up again, to get in several more practice landings!😊
Then David instructed me to take him back to the FBO and park the aircraft.
“Silvertop shut down the engine…..but stay here in the cockpit!”☺️
Another man dressed just as professionally, climbed into the cockpit of my Piper Cherokee cruiser 140, he was carrying a clipboard…………..
“So your David’s student, if David says your ready….. your ready!”😇
“Depart, and take me North towards the “Blue Ash” airport, heading 015, climb and maintain an altitude of 3,000 feet!☺️
Silvertop didn’t see this coming…………..
I had a federal aviation Flight Examiner sitting in the right seat of my Aircraft!
This was to be my Private Pilot Check Ride!😊
When I had the “Blue Ash airport” in sight, the examiner told me to abort my landing, and to follow a different heading!
“Silvertop, let’s put you “Under the Hood” for a few minutes!”😇
“Under the Hood”, is a solid plastic visor placed over your face, that completely blocks your vision of “Outside”!😳
“Silvertop fly a 360 degrees circle, then roll out level at a heading of 175 degrees, and continue to maintain 3,000 feet!”
I was flying completely by “instruments” ONLY now!……………..😮
“OK Silvertop, now remove your hood and take me home!”😊
I removed the hood that blocked my outside vision.
Right below us, was a 315 foot tall 1/3 replica of the Eiffel Tower. It is the centerpiece for the Kings Island amusement park just north of Cincinnati!
The I 71 highway, runs right along side this very large amusement park, and runs North to South.
Flying South, and following this highway for less than ten minutes, took us directly back to our home Airport!
“Lunken tower, I am on a three mile straight in approach, landing full stop from the North!”☺️
“Congratulations Silvertop, you just earned your wings!”🤗
48 years ago today June 15 1978 Silvertop became a licensed Pilot!🥳
Till tomorrow Mike😊

Happy Aviation Anniversary dear! However, you ARE grounded, !LOLZ 🤗😍😘🌹❤️

Lol.... Well at least I never jumped out of a perfectly good airplane like our son!!!🤣😇🥰

'Tis true! 🤗🙏🌹

I am scared of heights!!😅

That's a pretty badass story, my friend! You've had your wings for most of the time that I've been alive! That's quite amazing! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

It’s a completely different world, my friend. The first time I flew cross country while I was still a student pilot. I realized I just can’t stop and pull over Lol!😇🤣

Absolutely, that I know for sure! Haha...yeah, it's not exactly like driving a car cross country, that's for sure! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I was flying over a dense forest in Kentucky..... nothing but trees for miles and miles, not a place to lose an engine!🙄

Wow, yeah, that would be a very inconvenient location to have mechanical issues! I'm glad that you never did, my friend! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I was trained to react to a engine out situation as a student pilot....... unfortunately that was usually one of my week points being able to glide dead stick!😳🙄

Ah, then I can see how flying over vast tracks of forest could indeed be a tad stressful! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

It certainly made me think about the reliability of my single engine aircraft, I'm glad I was flying a brand new aircraft at the time!!!😇😀

Well done my friend great story and accomplishment wishing you the best week

Thank you, my friend!😊
The strange part is, I’m afraid of heights just not in an aircraft!😇

Nice job on the recertification! That sure is a small airport with a relatively short runway, perfect for small planes! Glad to hear your instrument rated, those will keep you alive when you can't trust your own senses!

The first thing they teach you, is always trust your instruments!😇
Many a pilot has become disoriented, and did not trust what the instruments were displaying......🙄😬

Nice! Are you still flying? And is that airport active? Would be weird with all the cars around. Looks more like a street now :-D

The Mrs laughs and tells me I am grounded!🤣😇
Well at least I pilot my aircraft, our youngest son was jumping out of airplanes.... until he became a daddy!😍
They actually built a residential neighborhood on both sides of the runway in the small town of Lynden wa.
I'm sure homes are expensive, but if you're a doctor or lawyer, and love to fly this would be a perfect place to live!!

So, the runway is still being used for lift offs and landings? That would be crazy :-D

Yes it is my friend it's very popular!😀
If you have a neighborhood full of pilots it works out OK, I used to fly over top of a football stadium for a high school on my approach.....
They really didn't like low flying planes or the noise🙄
