Essentially, there are two styles of curating - one is simply trying to maximize the curation rewards, and the other is supporting favorite Hive authors despite the rewards being "more average". π€π€ A curator can balance both styles of curating (such as half for the rewards and half for the support for favorite authors). π§ββοΈπ !LOLZ !DIY
Getting higher curation rewards is more of predicting which posts (or sometimes comments) with relatively low curation will get more curators after 24 hours from the time the content was published (but not more than 7 days). π€―π€ !LOLZ !DIY
