With all the excitement that was happening this past weekend surrounding the launch of The Pub community and the events that led to that launch, I almost forgot that the @holozing vial opening was happening on Sunday. I was sitting on the couch watching the Lions lose against the Minnesota Vikings and in between Discord messages and activities on HIVE, I found a way to open 18 of my 21 vials.
I've been involved in NFTs since before they were officially called NFTs. I can still remember getting the announcement that Steem Monsters was going to be launching via a Kickstarter campaign. I didn't even know what Kickstarter was at the time, but I quickly found myself signing up for an account and throwing $25 to $50 at the project.
Fast forward a short time, and the HIVE hardfork took place. While many people sold all their STEEM and moved it over to HIVE, I did a combination of three things. I powered down and sold my STEEM, but I moved some of it into HIVE, some of it into BTC, and the rest into a token called WAX.
Fast forward a little more and I found myself holding a vast collection of NFTs over on the WAX blockchain from a large number of projects.
It was pretty crazy seeing my collection value grow over six figures. How I wish I could go back and play things differently. I didn't though, and instead of selling and moving funds to stable tokens, I thought the next ATH was right around the corner, until it wasn't. During that time I did move a good portion of my daily earnings into Splinterlands packs, but unfortunately, those are virtually worthless now too.

So you might think I would be a little skeptical jumping into a new project like Holozing on the HIVE blockchain. I guess I am just a massive degen at heart, so although I planned to be a bit more conservative with Holozing, I found myself spending quite a bit more than anticipated. I truly hope it pays off. The project has a DHF Proposal out there right now. I'm not telling you how to vote. I am telling you to do your research and vote whichever way you feel is right. We have far to many people blindly voting on stuff like DHF proposals and witnesses. People need to pay attention to what is going on before clicking that button.

So yeah, I cracked open some packs this weekend and like my nieces doing their Christmas Haul videos on TikTok, I am going to show you a bit of what I got. I do have a few critiques whether anyone sees this or not, I just want to get them out there.
The vial opening animation is pretty cool. I have seen my fair share of pack crack animations over on the WAX chain and they did a pretty good job here. I only have two issues with the system. The first has to do with the speed. It was abnormally slow. I'm not sure if that was my connection or stuff happening on the back end, but I expected the openings to go more quickly.
Second, when you do open a pack, the cards get show on the narrow edge. It makes it difficult to understand what to do next. I get they probably didn't want the card flip system to look too similar to Splinterlands, but without a prompt, it is hard to know that you are supposed to click that thin narrow line to look at your card.
Maybe I'm the only one that had an issue with that.

I'm happy to say I got one of each kind of creature though only having one Walle and 9 Zappits is kind of annoying to me. I would have gladly given up a few of those Wrackoos or Zappits to get one or two more Walles. Oh well, I guess I just have to work with what I have. I do have three vials unopened right now, so maybe one of those has another Walle in it.

Stat-wise, this Wrackoo is probably my best card right now. I still don't understand all the mechanics of the game but I look forward to putting this guy to use once the game finally launches.

As far as capture cards, I got a good selection of those as well. It was nice to see a couple diamond capture cards drop in my vial openings. I also got a good selection of lesser capture cards as well.

All of my consumables are epic rarity, so that is kind of a bummer, but honestly, that could be normal and I just don't realize it. Can anyone answer that for me? Are there consumables with higher rarity than epic?

Finally, I got a metric crap ton of Items as well. I think the one I am most excited about is the Capture device of Legendary rarity, but perhaps when I get to understand the game a bit more those Holo Rarity gloves will mean a bit more to me. As I said, there are quite a few items off screen that I am not going to bother to show as they are lesser quality and pretty much the same thing as what you see here.
Now that vials are open, daily rewards have dropped quite a bit in terms of ZING earnings, but if you follow their Discord, that is going to change eventually. I look forward to seeing what kind of rewards my collection rakes in once they make that change.
