This is one of those days where life is going to take my post in a direction that I hadn't planned 24 hours ago. I had one or two songs already lined up to share with you on this #threetunetuesday sponsored by @ablaze, but as I said, due to the real world, that isn't going to happen.
I'm beyond tired this morning. I spent nine hours at the hospital yesterday with @mrsbozz sitting by the bedside of @diamonddave. He has been sick for quite some time now and yesterday he underwent not one but two emergency surgeries to try and figure out what is going on and keep him stable.
I'm a firm believe in miracles, but things are honestly not looking great.
@dimaonddave is a huge fan of music. As big of a fan I am, I would have to guess that David is even more so. If I were to ever create a four man trivia dream team, he would be definitely be on it to fill in any of the music gaps left by me.
This whole ordeal has been pretty horrible and as I sit here at work, I can't help but wonder what the day is going to bring for his family. Only being a touch into his 50's, it almost doesn't seem fair that he or his family should be in a predicament like this so soon.
Anyway, with all of that in mind, this weeks #threetunetuesday is going to be dedicated to some of the bands that @diamonddave loves.
I got the chance to see Sammy Hagar with my friend a few years ago when he was in town with his Circle band. With members like Michael Anthony and Jason Bonham, it was a really great show. I was going back through my photos and I was surprised to find that I didn't take a single picture at that show. I guess I was too busy rocking to bother.
It was an amazing show, and when you pick an artist like Hagar, you already have a huge collection of songs to choose from to share here. I decided to go with the lesser known hit "Give to Live". It seems quite appropriate given the fight that he currently has ahead of him.
Just this past Friday Sammy was back at that venue where we saw him a couple of years ago and diamonddave was able to go with his wife to see the show. He said it was amazing, so I am glad he was able to share that experience with her.
Although he likes all kinds of music, hair metal is probably his most favorite genre. He can pull out songs from obscure bands that I have never heard of before and sing every word to their songs. He also plays a pretty mean air guitar. I can't tell you the number of times I have reminded him he needs to turn his speaker down around the campfire because it's "quiet hours". We've probably kept many a tent camper on the site next to us up all night!
When KISS came to town a few years ago, my friend was bound and determined to go see them. I never really knew much about KISS beyond the wild makeup and a handful of their songs, but I didn't want him to go alone, and I didn't want him to not go at all, so I decided to tag along with him.
I have to say, KISS was probably one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Definitely the loudest. My ears were ringing for a good three days after leaving the show. It was pretty awesome. I remember sitting at the very back of the arena where we saw them and you could still feel the heat from the pyrotechnics they had on stage.
I'm not sure what his all time favorite KISS song is, I just know it's not Beth. We both hate that song, so today I am going to share with you "I was made for lovin' you". It's a great jam that Gene Simmons was pretty skeptical about at first. Mostly because of the "do do do dodo do do" part. I heard him talking about it on an interview a while ago.
Finally, if there was one band that @diamonddave had to pick as his all time favorite, it would probably be Motley Crue. I remember when The Dirt came out a while ago he was pretty adamant that we all had to watch it. When they announced their stadium tour with Poison and Def Leppard, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that we were all going to attend.
Personally, I didn't feel like they sounded that great during that show, but he loved it and was happy as a clam for that Saturday in late summer. I've been able to share my fondness for vinyl with him over the years and if I had to guess he probably has a more impressive collection than I do now. He's also a big fan of whiskey like I am, so that's another hobby we share in common.
Later this month he and I are supposed to go see Buddy Guy on his farewell tour at a local venue. I hope he is feeling well enough by then that he is still able to go with me, but it's not looking good right now.
