Since I was a child, I have always been drawn to this type of art, art that was once demonised, never considered an expression of art. This leads me to reflect on the fact that everyone has their own way of thinking, feeling, living and expressing themselves, and society always finds a way to hide it because it does not coincide with the art that is customary on a canvas or other types of materials, or in the way of expressing that talent.
This art, known as street art, I now think has nothing to do with the street. If we look at different cities, towns, and spaces where people live, we find it everywhere, small, large, in different forms of expression, considering the figures outlined there, the colours, the shapes, and the message that is being conveyed. This type of artistic expression is also done with so-called spray paints, and to think that this type of expression was practically done or is still done clandestinely, perhaps because of the use of paints or I don't know why it is so criticised. This reminds me of a scene from a Spider-Man comic book film, one of the themes was this street art, the person who did it had everything hidden precisely because it was a crime.
The use of different textures of paint does not detract from the expression. They are beautiful murals, reminding people who pass by of a date, an artist, or a figure from the population who has been important in the area. In addition to being eye-catching, they reflect the thoughts of many who are attracted to them.
In particular, I see it as a way of decorating walls with meaningful themes that we value according to what we perceive in them. Stories, characters and events are captured, and the artist who creates them feels inspired to showcase their creativity in a space larger than a canvas.
