I recently read a report about what Paul Heyman said about Roman Reigns and it really got me thinking. The only thing that really shocked me was when he admitted to not speaking to him since WrestleMania 40, I mean can you believe that? They were so close.
What happened was this: At WrestleMania 40, Roman lost his WWE Universal Championship title after holding it for a record setting 1,316 days. It was the longest reign in history so naturally people were pretty upset when he dropped it. Cody Rhodes ended up being the one who beat him and became champion in his place.
But then there’s this whole thing with The Bloodline going on right now and it’s just too much for poor Paul to handle. He couldn’t bear seeing Roman wrapped up in all that mess, so he simply stopped talking to him altogether. In fact, at one point he pulled Reigns from the WWE Draft because of what was happening within their faction alone.
I was taken aback. I learned that Heyman and Reigns have never spoken, which is strange considering that in WWE they were like family. The reason for this could be the seriousness of Heyman’s commitment towards protecting Reigns.
I watched Heyman’s Instagram story on this matter. He told fans who did not catch it to look at the segment. What he said is also true that Reigns’ story is one of a kind in WWE history. It can’t be denied that Roman has had an amazing run in the company so far and there are still many chapters left to write.
Earlier this year, Paul Heyman spoke with FOX News Digital about Roman Reigns. He said that what Reigns has gone through is the single-most unique story in the annals of sports-entertainment, and I couldn’t agree more. Reigns has battled so much, and he’s always come out on top.
Right now, The Head of the Table is away from WWE, and deservedly so, but make no mistake: We’re missing him already. We can’t wait to see him back on WWE TV. And I don’t doubt that when he does return, the WWE Universe will give him one hell of a reaction (one positive for a change). Simply put, Roman Reigns is one of the best to ever do it here at WWE … and we’re all lucky to have him.
In closing, I found Heyman’s words about Reigns to be shocking … but telling. What a unique story he truly has had in WWE … and I’m excited to see how his narrative continues going forward. Until then, you’ll find me patiently waiting for his comeback on WWE TV.
