RE: Illinois Firefighters Memorial

in Feel Good6 months ago

This memorial is such a powerful and heartfelt tribute to our firefighters — true heroes who embody strength, courage, and selfless dedication. Every time they answer a call, they risk everything to save others, often facing moments most of us can hardly imagine. My heart goes out to the families who have lost so much — whose lives and memories were forever changed in an instant because of fire. This memorial reminds us not only of their bravery but also of the deep love, sacrifice, and resilience that live on in their memory.

I experienced fire when I was a little girl, I think I was five years old at that time. Our family's newsstand/cafeteria named after me caught a fire. Truly changed our lives.

Catastrophic events, like fires, truly do change lives. It's so sudden and final. That must have been awful for your family and horrible for you as a young child.

I totally agree, I was still very young that time but my parents said, they really had a hard time standing back up again since all their money and savings where put on the business and that was during 1979 to 1980. Memories of hardships, glad all is well now but learnt a lot of lessons when it comes to fire hazards and safety, well the fire did not start from us though it's from a neighbor.
