DIY: How To Turn Old Books Into Nice Wallpaper

in DIYHub9 months ago (edited)

Hello everyone, I’m sure most of you know me as the Environmentalist always involved in upcycling or diy projects. Yes, I am back again with another upcycling project and this time we’re doing it with old books. I don’t know what you do with your old books but in my house, we keep them till someone wants them. I could literally search for my class one books and still find them even though I have completed university. The funny part is these are books I won’t ever need in my life but my mom(a teacher) never wants us to get discard them.
I just decided to upcycle some of them since they’ve been abandoned for years and won’t even ever be used again.

In today’s project, I decided to make a wallpaper from these old books and since valentine is approaching, I decided to use heart shapes for the design.
The materials I used;

  • Cover from the old books
  • coloured papers
  • a pair of scissors
  • paper glue
  • a pen
  • cellotape(improvision)

Procedure

Step 1
I removed the back cover from two books because I wanted the wallpaper to be a little bigger. I then joined them together using a cello tape.

Step 2
I now divided and cut the coloured papers into two using a pair scissors. I went ahead to fold that half into two again. I then drew half heart shapes on them with a pen and cut the heart shapes from the papers.

Step 3
I now glued the heart shapes onto the cover in no particular order. Getting to the ending,I realized I had taken only a little more than half of the cover which looked like a beautiful design and I loved it.

Our pretty wallpaper on the wall.

I really enjoyed making this and I’m glad I did this upcycling project. These little projects make me feel fulfilled as an Environmentalist. At least instead of hurting the environment by burning them, I got to make something beautiful for my room. I don’t know if you have old books that you plan on burning but if you do, why don’t you think of upcycling them just like I did? Cool right?
Anyway, I’m excited about my new wallpaper and thank you so much for sticking with me. I hope you like it too.

This is very creative and nice.I've been chasing my landlord to paint my room for ages because I don't like the color, and he keeps tossing me. Maybe I could do this to brighten up the place.😅

Yes you absolutely can, you just need the paint brushes and paint.
If it’s too much you can be doing Diys to spice your space.

or you'll come and do it for me? hehehe

Of course
Free of charge☺️

Are you sure?😂

Oh I’m very sure
It’s free of charge but the appointment fee is 10hbd😂

What a clever and beautiful way to give a second life to those books that would generally end up collecting dust or in the trash. Excellent work, thank you for sharing it.

Qué manera tan ingeniosa y hermosa de darle una segunda vida a esos libros que generalmente terminarían acumulando polvo o en la basura. Excelente labor, gracias por compartirlo.

I’m honored, thank you

You are a great Environmentalist. It's good to embrace recycling and also I must commend your mum for keeping record of all your books 📚 including your siblings...I should adopt this style for my kids 🤗

The collection of flowers that have made an effort to make the impossible possible by making it in small form is extraordinary. This extraordinary beauty gives an old book a new awakening. Which makes the glorious joy of study more important on the occasion of increasing the beauty of age. May God always bless you with all abilities. Excellent recycling.

Thank you

you are always most welcome my god bless you

No, you don't play with being an environmentalist. What's my own with old books? They just pile up. One time, though, we used them to cook as we were out of cooking gas for a while. Where the nano tape, though?

😂😂😂you use them to cook?!!!!

I improvised with the cello tape because I couldn’t find it.

Que bonito trabajo, muy creativo gracias por compartir esta idea 😉

Thank you
