Every year, when the month of April rolls in, there’s a special kind of excitement that fills the air in our barangay.
The sun shines a little brighter, kids run around with energy that seems endless, and the streets begin to fill with banners, flags, and laughter. It can only mean one thing: it’s the opening of Fiesta in our Barangay!
This tradition has been around for as long as I can remember. As kids, we used to line up along the streets just to watch the opening parade. Now, years later, it still gives me the same thrill.
The opening day is always marked by a parade, but not just any parade. It’s a celebration of unity, sportsmanship, creativity, and pure fun.
Participants from the basketball and volleyball tournaments proudly march around the barangay, bringing energy and color wherever they go.
You can hear the beat of the music from blocks away, feel the
bounce of the bass in your chest, and see the vibrant colors of each team’s uniform catching the sunlight. It’s a moving celebration that brings the entire community to life.
These teams don’t just play sports, they dance too! One of the highlights of the opening program is the TikTok Challenge, where every team prepares a dance performance.
You might think these athletes are only good at dribbling or spiking the ball, but when they hit the stage, they surprise everyone with their moves and creativity. It’s so much fun watching players switch from game face to dance face. There’s laughter, cheering, and moments that become unforgettable memories.
And of course, the uniform parade is a show in itself. Each team proudly showcases their outfit—some are sporty, and some are flashy. It’s a moment of pride for each group, showing not just their unity but also the effort they put into designing something that stands out.
What makes this event truly special isn’t just the games or the performances—it’s the spirit behind it all. It’s the sense of community that ties us together. It’s seeing familiar faces you grew up with, now leading their own teams or cheering on their younger siblings.
It’s the older folks clapping along with the music, and the little kids looking up in awe, already dreaming of the day they get to join the parade themselves.
I think that’s what makes this tradition so close to our hearts. It’s more than just a barangay event—it’s a reminder of where we come from, and how much we’ve grown as a community. Every cheer, every dance, every step around the barangay brings us all a little closer.
For many of us, this tradition is something we’ve seen since childhood. We’ve watched it, joined it, and now we pass it on to the next generation. That’s the beauty of it—it lives on through us.
As we officially open the 2025 fiesta whether you’re a player, a performer, a volunteer, or just someone watching from the sidelines, you’re a part of this colorful journey.
Here’s to another unforgettable fiesta season. Long live Fiesta in our Barangay, and may it continue to bring joy, unity, and celebration for many more years to come!
