Once again an artistic exhibition was organized in the city of Cumaná, in house number 45 located in the Historic Center, with the particularity that on this occasion the event was also the stage for a gastronomic exhibition and a live music presentation.
Unlike the exhibition held a week earlier at the old Pichincha cinema, where most of the works were created by UNEARTE students, here the paintings were signed by renowned local artists such as Georgina Lunar, José Barreto, José Luis Márquez, Luis Arrieta, Alberth Rivero, Vicmar Cedeño, Roger Gamboa, Luis Caraballo, Wilfredo Zerpa and Ernesto Guevara, among others.
It was a pleasant surprise how many people attended this event in which the passion for art was encouraged in the midst of a very pleasant atmosphere since the main hallway of the enclosure was enabled for the exhibition of gastronomy, so that in the same space you could see a painting while tasting a free sample of homemade cookies with mango jelly and a glass of handmade guarapita.
As a fan of drawing and painting, I enjoy contemplating the diversity of techniques and artistic currents that are presented to me. I was able to appreciate graphite on paper, oil on canvas, ink, tempera and watercolor, acrylic on wood, being surrealism, chromatism, landscape, portraits and modern art the most predominant currents. I believe that each artist, beyond theory and mastery of technique, must possess the ability to move the viewer, who ultimately determines what is art.
The musical stage was located in the dining room, so the tour required a long time, but it was very enjoyable because I took the opportunity to eat two dogfish empanadas and some catalinas, leaving for the end a chocolate, all purchased at the gastronomic exhibition.
This autochthonous cultural experience was gratifying because I was also able to talk for a long time with Wilfredo Zerpa, one of the exhibitors, a renowned artist from Sucre who is also a professor of artistic drawing. Among the attendees I also noticed the presence of Luis Caraballo, whose aesthetic proposals have always been different from the conventional, leaning towards risky concepts for an audience with more complex criteria.
Art and gastronomy were intertwined that afternoon so that attendees like me enjoyed a connection with our roots and also had the opportunity to support both artists and entrepreneurs. These types of events are important because they strengthen the regional identity while enhancing the values that we must preserve in future generations.

Sorprendió gratamente la cantidad de público que acudió a este evento en el cual se fomentó la pasión por el arte en medio de un ambiente muy grato ya que el pasillo principal del recinto fue habilitado para la exposición de gastronomía, así que en un mismo espacio se podía observar un cuadro mientras se degustaba de una muestra gratis de galletas caseras con jalea de mango y un vaso de guarapita artesanal.
Como fanático del dibujo y la pintura me agrada contemplar la diversidad de técnicas y corrientes artísticas que se presentan ante mí. Pude apreciar grafito sobre papel, óleo sobre tela, tinta, tempera y acuarela, acrílico sobre madera, siendo el surrealismo, el cromatismo, paisajismo, retratos y el arte moderno las corrientes más predominantes. Considero que cada artista, más allá de la teoría y del dominio de la técnica, debe poseer la capacidad de emocionar al espectador, quien en última instancia determina lo que es arte.
Cada espacio de la casa 45, incluyendo habitaciones, fue acondicionado para exponer obras, el escenario musical se ubicó en el espacio destinado al comedor, así que el recorrido requirió de un buen rato, pero resultó muy ameno porque aproveché para comerme dos empanadas de cazón y unas catalinas, dejando para el final un chocolate, todo adquirido en la muestra de gastronomía.
Esta experiencia cultural autóctona resultó gratificante porque además pude conversar un buen rato con Wilfredo Zerpa, uno de los expositores, reconocido artista sucrense que además es profesor de dibujo artístico. Entre los asistentes también advertí la presencia de Luis Caraballo, cuyas propuestas estéticas siempre han sido distintas a lo convencional, inclinándose hacia arriesgados conceptos para un público con criterios más complejos.
Arte y gastronomía se entrelazaron esa tarde por lo que asistentes como yo disfrutaron de una conexión con nuestras raíces y además tuvimos la ocasión de apoyar tanto artistas como emprendedores. Este tipo de eventos resultan importantes porque fortalecen la identidad regional en tanto enaltecen los valores que debemos preservar en futuras generaciones.
