The days I had for vacation have turned into days of rest and physical exhaustion due to the discomfort. Despite feeling unwell, I wanted to share with you the photos from Friday at my workplace.
El día viernes fue bastante movido a nivel laboral, pero como a eso de las cuatro de la tarde la señora de Recursos Humanos empezó a decir que se realizaría una actividad a las cinco y media en la plataforma y era necesario hacer acto de presencia abajo. A esa hora, es decir, debíamos terminar con lo que teníamos pendientes que por suerte ya estábamos en la recta final del trabajo pendiente.
On Friday, it was quite busy at work, but around four in the afternoon, the Human Resources lady started saying that there would be an activity at five-thirty on the platform and that it was necessary to be present downstairs. At that time, we had to finish what we had pending, and fortunately, we were already in the final stretch of the pending work.
Así mismo, también nos entregó unos papelitos del cuál nos explicó que realizarían la elección de la reina de la empresa (primera vez que se realizaba) ya que he estado los años anteriores y no lo había hecho. En el papel había que anotar el nombre del rey o la reina, nuestro voto, en el caso de las mujeres colocarían en el papel el nombre del rey y en el caso de los hombres el nombre de la reina que iban a seleccionar, ese papelito lo envolvimos y lo colocamos en una caja.
She also handed out some slips of paper, explaining that they would be electing the company's queen (first time it was done) as she had been there in previous years and had not done it. On the paper, we had to write the name of the king or queen, our vote, in the case of women, they would write the name of the king and in the case of men, the name of the queen they were going to select. We wrapped that paper and placed it in a box.
Luego de todos haber votado las personas de recursos humanos, junto con la jefa iban a contar todos esos votos de manera de elegir a una ganadora y un ganador. A todas estas, yo estaba realizando mi trabajo en mi oficina junto con mis compañeras, al final quería terminar porque tenía los síntomas de gripe y me sentía con el malestar leve y no me quería ir tarde.
After everyone had voted, the Human Resources people, along with the boss, would count all those votes to choose a winner. Meanwhile, I was doing my work in my office with my colleagues. I wanted to finish because I had flu symptoms and felt mildly unwell, and I didn't want to leave late.
Para hacer el cuento más corto, bajamos a la hora asignada y nos reunimos en la plataforma, repartieron unas máscaras, pitos y demás, alusivos a las fiestas de carnaval, tuvieron unas palabras de protocolo y luego procedieron a iniciar con los votos, nombraron a todas las participantes, es decir, a las que obtuvieron al menos uno o más votos, y por último a la seleccionada reina, y para mi sorpresa dijeron mi nombre, yo quedé impactada, anonadada, sorprendida, jamás imaginé que me iban a elegir a mí, la verdad que fue una sorpresa rotunda ya que normalmente escogen no sé a la más bochinchera, carismática, cómica, y yo, en el trabajo tengo que decir que soy bastante seria, y no suelo relacionarme mucho con las personas, voy, cumplo con mi trabajo y retorno a mi casa. O sea lo que quiero decir es que no soy "popular" ni tengo un grupo en específico, ni salgo con ellas, somos literal compañeras de trabajo. Y bueno, la situación me sorprendió.
To make a long story short, we went down at the assigned time and gathered on the platform. They distributed masks, whistles, and other items related to carnival celebrations, had some protocol words, and then proceeded with the votes. They named all the participants who got at least one or more votes, and finally the selected queen. To my surprise, they said my name. I was shocked, astonished, surprised; I never imagined they would choose me. Honestly, it was a complete surprise since they usually choose, I don't know, the most boisterous, charismatic, funny person. And I have to say, I am quite serious at work and don't usually socialize much with people. I go, do my job, and return home. So what I mean is that I'm not "popular" nor do I have a specific group, nor do I go out with them. We are literally just colleagues. So the situation surprised me.
Cabe destacar que yo estaba sumamente apenada, como les digo no soy de bochinches ni nada de eso, y al quedar seleccionada, todos aplaudiendo y pitando y yo riéndome de la risa y del momento, me subieron a la plataforma para colocarme la corona y bandana de reina, y luego procedieron a llamar al elegido de rey, y adivinen... Ganó ni más ni nada menos que el coordinador de facturación, o sea, mi coordinador jajaja. Los reyes se puede decir que quedaron en casa, en la misma oficina jaja. Pese a la pena que pude sentir, me reí muchísimo y fue un momento divertido y fuera de lo común en la empresa. Luego de eso repartieron unas chucherías, refrescos, se quedaron un rato hablando abajo y luego subí a recoger mis cosas en la oficina y retirarme ya que me sentía un poco mal.
It should be noted that I was extremely embarrassed. As I said, I am not one for parties or anything like that. And when I was selected, everyone was clapping and whistling, and I was laughing from the moment and the situation. They took me to the platform to place the crown and queen bandana on me. Then they proceeded to call the chosen king, and guess what... The billing coordinator won, that is, my coordinator hahaha. The kings, so to speak, stayed at home, in the same office hahaha. Despite the embarrassment, I laughed a lot, and it was a fun and out-of-the-ordinary moment at the company. After that, they distributed some snacks and drinks, stayed downstairs chatting for a while, and then I went up to gather my things in the office and leave since I felt a bit unwell.
Debido a que me sentía un poco mal, se notaba en mi cara, más que todo en mis ojos un poco cansados, así que traté de retirarme lo más rápido que pude. Un día diferente de bochinche y un compartir que nos sacó de la rutina laboral. ¡Qué importante es que los jefes o líderes tengan siempre presente los momentos recreativos!
Since I felt a bit unwell, it was noticeable on my face, mainly in my slightly tired eyes. So, I tried to leave as quickly as possible. A different day of fun and sharing that took us out of the work routine. How important it is for bosses or leaders to always keep recreational moments in mind!
