I’ve been thinking about this decision since last year, and well, financial issues and finding a place were the things holding me back from starting.
But I finally made up my mind and began studying English in a disciplined and formal way at an institute here in Medellín, Colombia.
I believe that learning a language as a Latino can open many doors, and it's also a way to pursue personal development. A term I really like right now is that I’m chasing my PRIME, and English is one of those skills I want to master in the future. Let me explain with this example: when I was younger, I used to play a game called WARFRAME. In it, you could get certain characters, and with some luck and dedication, you could unlock a Prime version of the character with better stats and more powerful. I think you get what I mean, haha.
THE INSTITUTE
The place where I study is very nice and spacious. Each classroom is named after a famous city, such as LONDON, TOKYO, HONG KONG...
Each class lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes, with a maximum of 6 students plus the teacher.
According to what they explained, the whole program lasts around 2 years, starting from A1 (which is where I am right now basically crawling) up to C1, with the right to take an international certification exam, in addition to certificates from the Secretary of Education here in Colombia.
I won’t lie it's not been easy. From the very first class, they’ve been speaking in English, and I almost always have a different teacher, as well as different classmates. The classes are scheduled based on your availability, which I actually like.
There are days when I don’t understand anything, but I feel like this is all about practice and something I need to do every day like including it in my daily routine, trying to watch movies or series in English, forming sentences, and much more.
I’m also sticking little notes all over the place to help me remember and associate words. One teacher even told me I could watch PEPA PIG (which made me laugh a lot) since it’s in British English, haha.
I really like the teachers each has a distinct accent, just like the students, and I think that helps train my ear for this new language I’m learning.
As for the educational material, I get one book per level (for a total of 5 if I make it through all), and I also have a platform where I get evaluated and another one for various activities (this one requires a username and password that I received at enrollment).
🤩DREAMS
Of course, one of my dreams is to be able to speak English. But I’d also love to travel and naturally communicate with people from around the world. Hive has also been a big motivation for me, as I’d like to interact in some of the shows or programs on X or Discord with people like @starkerz, @thecallmedan, and @ecoinstant or who knows, maybe a Hive Fest will happen here in my country, and I’d be able to attend and talk to them.
I also hope to improve my financial situation and have a more stable source of income.
Honestly, I’m very excited and hopeful, and I’d really appreciate any tips from native English speakers on how to acquire this new skill or effective study methods because this is a 50/50 effort.
This is my first post out of five (one for each level), and I hope to share my progress in the future. I think the second post might be around January 2026.
I’m keeping my spirits high and my faith strong, although if I end up having to do a power down (even if I don't want to) to support my studies, I might sadly have to (hopefully not).
My mission with this post is to inspire and encourage others to keep learning (no matter your age), because the brain is a muscle and it needs exercise too.

Saludos humanos como están...
Esta decisión la estaba pensando desde el año pasado y bueno el factor económico como también encontrar un lugar era lo que me detenía frente a empezar.
Pero me decidí y he empezado a estudiar ingles de una forma disciplinada y formal en un instituto aquí en Medellin Colombia.
Considero que aprender un idioma siendo Latino te puede abrir puertas, como también buscar ese desarrollo personal como persona o un termino que me esta gustando mucho es que estoy buscando mi PRIME y el ingles es una de esas habilidades que quiero lograr a futuro. Te pongo en contexto con este ejemplo: cuando era mas joven jugaba un titulo que se llama WARFRAME allí podía obtener unos personajes, pero con algo de suerte y dedicación ese personaje se podía obtener en su versión Prime con mejores stats y mas poderoso. Creo que me hice entender jeje
EL INSTITUTO
Bueno donde estudio es un lugar muy bonito y amplio, cada salón tiene el nombre de una ciudad famosa. Es decir hay salones con nombres como LONDON, TOKYO, HONG KONG...
Cada clase dura 1:30 con una capacidad máxima de 6 alumnos y bueno el maestro.
Según lo que explicaron el estudio dura unos 2 años aproximadamente y va desde A1 ( estoy gatiando que es donde estoy actualmente hasta C1 con derecho a presentar una evaluación para un certificación a nivel internacional a parte de los certificados en secretaria de Educación aquí en Colombia.
No te voy a mentir no ha sido fácil ya que desde la clase 1 me están hablando en ingles y casi siempre tengo un profesor diferente, como también los compañeros de la sección casi siempre son distintos; ya que las clases se programan según el tiempo que tengas disponible y es algo que me gusta.
También hay días en que no entiendo nada pero siento que esto es de practica y es algo que debo hacer diario, tales como mi rutina en el día, intentar ver una película o serie en ingles, formar oraciones y muchas cosas más.
También estoy pegando papelitos por todas partes para intentar recordar palabras y asociar y hasta un profe me dijo que podría ver PEPA PIG ( me dio mucha risa ) ya que este habla en ingles Británico jeje.
Me han gustado mucho los profesores ya que todos tienen cierto acento al igual que los compañeros y creo que eso me ayuda a educar mi oído frente a este nuevo idioma que estoy aprendiendo.
En cuanto al material educativo tengo un libro por nivel para un total de 5 si lo logro, también tengo una plataforma donde me evalúan y otra donde hago ciertas actividades ( esta ultima se entra con un usuario y contraseña que me dieron al inicio de la matricula.)
SUEÑOS
Uno de esos sueños claro esta es poder hablar ingles, pero me encantaría poder viajar y así poder comunicarme con personas de otras partes del mundo de una manera natural. Hive también ha sido mi motivación ya que me gustaría poder interactuar en algunos de los programas que hacen en x o discord con personajes tales como @starkerz , @thecallmedan y @ecoinstant o quien quita que se haga un hive fest aquí en mi país y poder asistir y poder comunicarme con ellos. Aclaro que también poder mejorar mis condiciones económicas y poder tener una fuente de ingresos mas estables.
La verdad estoy muy emocionado, esperanzado y agradecería si tu idioma Ingles es nativo me des consejos para adquirir esta nueva habilidad o una forma de estudiar ya que esto es un 50/50.
Este es mi primer post de cinco ( por cada nivel ) y espero poder compartir mis avances en un futuro, creo que por allá en Enero del 2026 seria el segundo post. Pero voy moral y fe aunque si toca hacer un power down aunque no quiera para ayudarme con mis estudios tristemente me tocara ( espero que no ).
Mi misión con este post es **inspirar e invitar ** a estar en constantemente en aprender ( no importa tu edad ) ya que el cerebro es un musculo y también hay que estarlo ejercitando.
