A journey through the mid western part of USA, somewhere probably near Ohio or Missouri, an exclusion zone where you see things normally shouldn't. Beyond even the realm of reality should be able to handle. But hey, my cruiser is up for the job long as am able.
Unfortunately this one won't have HDR links, I will be providing images from various junctions of zones from the north side to the west ones as well. It's crazy how a game took the PG design and easily created a playable loop. And all am doing is scavenging and scanning stuff, though using a station wagon to cruise off-road is ah, quite the choice for a story default car.
Ah, normal weather, sunshine outside, what a time to pick up an anchor ball. Filled with energy that is used for a gateway, and for beefing up my car. You'll see what I meant next.
Oh no, this is not the car I get at first. This is the one repaired mostly, at best it's functional, but weaker state and can only protect me from small toxic radiation, electrocution, physical collisions, and so on.
After some crazy beatings, and wasting time to scavenge items, I've arrived at a location to pick up the pacing on the story. Oppy, an old physicist asked me to get a bit closer into that floating anomaly over the bridge. I am driving a car built for the road and with all the radioactive entities on terrain, it took me a while.
Yes, that's my vacuum. The convenience this one provides is so soothing. I break stuff, and this thing sucks it. It sucks every material out there long as they're in range. Also, that ripple effect in the sky, hoo boy.
So yes, this game looks like Half-Life with Source 2 modding. But I swear, it's so much more. It works great as this driving adventure game navigating hazardous environments, just to understand its world. And as the story progressed for me, new environments were introduced.
There's an abductor in the distance, basically if my car doesn't come across the light beam, it will not be carried off somewhere 300-400 meters where I was. Heck, even will hit a tree no thanks to it.
This game creates fogs so well. It felt unsettling and easy to get lost in too without the map.
I activated the gateway, and seeing the color of the sky change like that, it is sublime. Outside the storm brewing which was oozing with radioactive stuff, and would damage my car longer I stayed.
Day and night time create complete different moods during exploration. But this is surface level stuff, because getting to mid-zone is where stuff really gets pretty freaky. Like alien goop and such coming here and there. But before that, I spend a good chunk embracing the world before me.
I mean, am talking about repair stations, gas stations not only having so much gas to replenish, but also the dumpster that conjures and throws items from my garage also found around these parts. These maps are super big, and takes probably an hour long to fully explore and scavenge through. But I usually got the grasp of things, not overstaying my welcome for a storm to come later.
These things are a blessing, you have no idea how much vehicle damage incurs because of everything that happens out there. My car gets pummeled like a fresh can of tomato sauce thrown around. Also, no more wasting resources building different tools and kits to fix various parts of my car.
Storytelling. No need to give it to me right away, let me discover things on my own.
Race to the portal back to the garage. I was done. 3 junctions, 15 in-game hours, 45 IRL minutes spend on this journey. But my car inventory was full and I needed to call it quits. Also, screw Sierram.
