I was curious how Isom 3 compared to recent Comicsgate campaigns for graphic novels on Indieogo. In the chart I've recorded the top 10 best performing Comicsgate projects in 2024. The data includes backer numbers from the first 24 hours, the total number of backer from actives phases of campaigns, and the total of number of backers including the InDemand phase which may persist for months or years.
24-hour backer number were extracted from Backertracker, where it appeared that the first day of a Comicsgate campaign only included a few hours - I added day and day 2, this may have slightly inflated the 24-hour backer numbers for the Comicsgate projects.
The best 24-hour backer numbers for Comicsgate were 1,094 for Ethan Van Sciver with the "Cyberfrog Heartsick Deluxe Plus Race Car!", the same campaign also had the best total backers with 1,948. 1,094 is slightly more than one third of the backers for Eric July's Isom volume 3. Van Sciver had 5 unique campaigns in 2024 adding all the of the 24-hour backers from the 5 projects produced a sum of 2,465 backers or approximately 82% of Eric July's first day backers from one project.
The data may suggest, that Comicsgate would be better served promoting its own projects rather than criticizing others.
