On Sunday, July 6 we got caught in the rain in Lloret de Mar when we were expecting a warm summer evening. The temperature in this popular seaside town was 24 degrees. But instead of sunshine, there were gray clouds. So we decided to take this opportunity to explore the city on a rainy summer evening and set out for a walk.
I have talked about Lloret many times before and shown various sides of it. This time I wanted to show what it looks like in the evening, accompanied by rain. As it was getting dark, we checked out the inflatable water park set up in the sea. The entrance is paid and you can buy tickets for an hour or two. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for rent. Just as we were heading toward the sea, the rain started pouring.
If you ever get caught in the rain in Lloret or any other holiday town, the best thing you can do is sit in a café. Fortunately, there is a place on almost every corner here. We went into a café across the street and waited for the rain to stop. It was warm inside, with music playing in the background and people were enjoying themselves. Most of them were probably like us, escaping the rain.
My coffee came with a heart-shaped foam. It was clear that this place was a popular tourist spot. The prices were reasonable too. Coffee cost 2 euros and cheesecake 8 euros. Having a coffee for 2 euros in a café with a sea view was quite a treat.
When the rain eased a little, we went outside. The city was almost empty. People had either taken shelter in restaurants or gone back to their hotels. The young ones seemed to be getting ready for the night. Groups dressed up were passing by.
We wanted to walk around before heading back to the beach, but many shops were closed. The streets are not very lively in the rain. So we returned to the beach. The young crowd was out for the night and we decided to follow them in search of some fun.
The restaurants around the square were just as quiet. The tables were completely empty. Burger joints with open kitchens, steakhouses, patrolling police officers. It seemed like everyone had run away from the rain.
The ice cream prices caught my attention. Two scoops cost 4 euros 20 cents. That is considered cheap compared to Barcelona. But with so many places around here, competition is tough. Attracting customers is not easy at all. At the end of the restaurant district, we came across the town hall. Some people were sleeping in front of it. We kept walking.
We wanted to reach the main street, which you could call the heart of the city. Casinos, squares, bars, restaurants, nightclubs. They are all here. Even the side streets have restaurants offering affordable menus. We even found a three-course menu for 13 euros.
The city has a very young population. Everyone was dressed up, strolling in groups. Lloret is definitely a holiday town for young people. With its beach, nightlife and vibrant energy, it is perfect for them. When we got to the liveliest street, we saw people dressed up and young people being taken to clubs by buses. We even came across a party bus that advertised a QR code, three different rooms and three different themes. The entrance fee was 30 euros.
Souvenir shops, boutiques, eyewear stores. In between them there are hotels, bars, casinos and game arcades. We came across a music bar and next to it was a place called Diskobar Zoo. It was closed and up for rent. Maybe it could be an opportunity for someone looking to start a business here.
Across from us, people were sitting on hotel balconies, sipping cocktails and chatting. That is what Lloret nights are like. A different kind of entertainment on every corner. Then we came across a stylish lounge bar. The cocktail menu was very well designed. It was entirely tourist oriented, just as it should be.
While the young crowd was heading out to have fun, we mingled with them. Across the street was Gala SSR Lounge, next to it hotels, a few lounge bars and discotheques that were still empty because it was too early. It was half past nine, but the night had not even started yet. The streets were glowing with lights.
We stopped by another bar. More cocktails and music. We wanted to return to the beach to soak in the atmosphere again. As we were walking, my friend and I noticed that the average age of the people outside was about twenty. Some looked like high school seniors, others like first-year university students. With our dog, we felt like an old aunt and uncle.
Another beachside bar. It was empty but looked very inviting. With a sea view, they served cocktails and hookah. During the day, you can rent canoes here or ride pedal boats with slides. We learned an interesting fact. Dogs are not allowed on the beach and the fine is 750 euros. So our plan to spend time on the beach with our dog was ruined.
The sky after the rain looked incredibly beautiful. We saw a sightseeing bus making its way through the streets of Lloret. On the beach, young people were playing ball games. Not volleyball, but some kind of juggling with the ball. The sand was still wet after the rain, but no one seemed to care.
Another beach café. The cocktail menu was also nicely prepared. We passed by the park that stretches along the coastline. In the distance, the illuminated Lloret Castle was shining.
Lloret de Mar looked stunning under the evening lights. With these beautiful sights, we ended our evening walk.
Sending you all warm greetings!
