A Fun-Filled Day at PortAventura

in TravelFeed4 months ago

Hello friends. Today we came to our favorite park PortAventura World. This park is a fantastic place for families to spend time together. There are various attractions for both kids and adults. Whatever type you’re into there’s something for everyone. We wanted to relax and see what’s new in the park. The last time we were here was about a year and a half ago in winter.

The park has free electric vehicle charging stations, which pleased us. We plugged in our car since it’s about 120 kilometers away from where we came from. The journey takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes and we use up 25% of the charge. While the car was charging, we enjoyed the park and started exploring. There is plenty of parking available for those arriving by car. You can also reach here by bus, train or even by bike.

We went through security and saw some fountains that had been there for a long time. They were quite ornate and working well.

Then we queued to buy express tickets because the park hadn’t opened yet and it was quite crowded. The price for express tickets is 95 Euros, while the park entrance fee is 52 Euros. Parking costs 14 Euros and food prices vary depending on the order.

The only hotel inside the park is called "PortAventura" and other hotels are located outside the park.

We went inside the park and headed to the Grand Canyon. This is a fantastic canyon attraction. The slide is very wet and operates even in winter because it doesn’t get you too wet.

The Grand Canyon attraction is fun not only for those riding the attractions but also for those walking around. There are special water guns that can drench people passing by in boats for an extra fee. The cost of the gun is 2 Euros. From here, you can aim the water at targets. If no one uses the water gun, you can avoid getting wet. However if someone uses it, avoiding getting wet can be challenging. We passed through the corridor for express tickets and there was a line for regular tickets on the side. The park had just opened and there were people, but it wasn’t too crowded. It was 10:30 and we didn’t expect to wait long because the line was very short.

Next we moved to the most extreme part of the park. There are two major attractions here: Shambhala and Dragon. Ferrari Land is also here and we could see the scariest attraction Condor. We were scared of it but decided to go on anyway.

If you want to sit in the front row of a popular attraction, you need to buy an additional express ticket. This ticket costs 5 Euros and allows you to sit in the front row. We were in the front row of the park train.

A new attraction had opened in the park. There was a 2-hour wait in line. Other attractions also had waiting times: 20 minutes for the park train and 40 minutes for the Grand Canyon. We came to an interesting attraction where there was no one. The wait time was about 10 minutes. This attraction is called "Maya Secrets" and express tickets were not valid here.

I want to show you the food prices at the Cactus Express restaurant in the park. You can bring your own food or buy food here. In a restaurant, menu prices range from 12 to 14 Euros. The menu includes potatoes, a drink and either a hot dog or döner and maybe a salad. The burrito menu costs 14.50 Euros. The restaurants are quite nice and open during lunchtime. The daily menu is 28 Euros.

There are many Woody characters in the park. There is also an attraction called "Fun Train" in one area. It seems very fun to me, but the space from the back of the seat to the end is a bit cramped. If you are close to 2 meters tall, you might experience some discomfort on some attractions.

Then we checked out other restaurants. There were sandwiches here, with prices starting at 4.25 Euros and the most expensive ones being 11 Euros.

Next to that there were souvenir shops. Among the souvenirs here are some products like Sesame Street-themed mugs for 12.95 Euros, hats for 14.95 Euros and T-shirts for around 17.95 Euros. Prices are generally not too expensive. There are also some toys for kids.

We went to the Silver River attraction and the wait time without an express ticket was 1 hour and 30 minutes. However even with express tickets, there was still a line. The line looked a bit long.

We went to eat after exiting the attraction and ended up soaking wet. There is a dining area here and we visited a newly opened restaurant. Rib eye steaks are 11.50 Euros and chicken is 9.25 Euros. They also have fries, which are a pretty good option for a barbecue menu. The menu includes salads, nachos and tuna salad, with salads costing 6.25 Euros. Prices were generally reasonable. After choosing your food, you can pay. I got a sausage for myself. There were many tables available.

A nice thing is that you can use these tables even if you bring your own food. You can also come here with your dog and comfortably sit in the shade. I wanted to get an ice cream and tried the beautiful pink ice cream from the menu. Since it was pricey I wanted to treat myself. I found out that the ice cream was really delicious. If I had known it would be so tasty, I would have chosen it over the sausage and fries.

If you can't buy an express ticket, you will need to pay about 40-45 Euros to ride one of the most interesting attractions in the park. If this option doesn't suit you, queues usually shorten around lunchtime as people go for lunch and rest. For the River attraction there was a line half as short as the long one an hour earlier. So you might want to take advantage of shorter queues during lunchtime. Another favorite area of mine is the beautiful trees and vines here. Everything is surrounded by greenery and there are banana trees growing around.

We went to our next wet attraction. These types of attractions are the most popular and enjoyable in the summer. Being soaked and cooling off is really nice. This time, we sat in the front row again, so I expected to get completely wet. In the front row, we usually get soaked from head to toe. In hot weather it’s a great way to cool off.

There is also a horror room called "Rec Experience" that you can enter for an additional fee. It costs 8 Euros and you can buy your ticket here and visit it. Honestly we didn’t know what it was about, but there was a horror movie-themed shop. It might be zombie-themed.

This attraction is not included in the main ticket. You can enter by paying 8 Euros, but I didn’t go this time. Maybe another time. We continued to explore other slides. One of my favorite activities is the water battles. There are four water attractions here.

There’s so much to talk about that I’ve split this trip into two parts. So I’m thinking of preparing the second part next week. That’s it for today. Sending everyone big hugs.
