Romans 7:19-24 (KJV) For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
God wants us to obey His commandments. He wants us to do everything which He has commanded us in His word. That is what God wants us to do. We must obey the laws of God. When we do not obey the laws of God we are living in disobedience. We are not doing what is good if we refuse to obey His will. The purpose of our lives is to obey God. We should be obedient to God and fulfill everything that is his will for our lives.
The good that we should do is the will of God. It is obedience to the commandments of God that is what is good. We all know that when we do what is not the purpose of God, that is not good. It is not good that we do not obey His commandments. But we do know that our flesh cannot obey the commandments of God. We cannot do the will of God out of our flesh.
