The teachings of the doctrines of the church is helping us in putting things in the right perspective as we progress in our walk with God.
In the church, we are expected to communicate with God effectively. Our communication with God is done through prayers. If we pray according to the doctrines of Jesus Christ, we are sure that God will answer us.
There are several ways people pray to God. As we have many different kinds of religious groups, that is how we have many different types of prayers. There is only one way that God taught us how pray.
Matthew 6:5-8 (KJV) And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
When we pray, we are to pray to God with a clean heart. The prayers of the righteous are a delight unto God. God does not listen to sinners.
We are taught also to avoid unnecessary repetitions in our prayers. God is not dull in hearing so the practice of repeating lines and counting beads during prayers should not be practiced.
Another thing that we learn about our prayer life is that we should not be like the hypocrites.
