Prayers is one of the doctrines which we were taught as christians in the church which is the body of Christ. As children, we learn to communicate with our Father in heaven. There is no way that we are going to relate with God without communicating with Him. Through prayers we talk to God and make our request known unto Him.
For our prayers to be answered, we should learn to pray according to the doctrines of Jesus Christ. We have been taught how we should pray for God to listen to us. We should come to God with a believing heart. We cannot receive anything from God if we do not believe that He is able to do whatsoever that we are asking from him. We must believe in the existence of God and in His ability to answer our prayers.
Also, prayers do not need to be made with repetitions. Jesus Christ taught us to avoid vain repetitions when we are praying. Our God knows what we have need of, so we do not have to repeat what we are saying too many times. Some religions practice counting of beads when they are praying. We should avoid such practices.
Matthew 6:5-8 (KJV) And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
