A few days ago I brought you a Little Prince award. Today I'd like to tell you about another award-winner.
Fiction Award, 2006. Ernesto Carralero Bosch. As I tell you here, it is, without a doubt, a notebook with a fascinating world for children. There's no doubt that Rachel exists and is not just a fictional character created by the author.
It's safe to say that, if not a real girl, readers who have had and still have the opportunity to read these pages imagine the girl in these stories.
In eight well-structured stories, the author narrates the adventures of a girl between the ages of 4 and 6. A Cuban girl, given the characteristics sometimes detailed by the characters, the way they express themselves, and the accessories they use.
It's also safe to say that many, even without mentioning the city where the story is told, would be inclined to choose Puerto Padre, mentioning El Fuerte de la Loma, the seawall, and some other sites in this city north of Las Tunas.
The book's editor was Alberto Garrido, an excellent Cuban writer born in Santiago de Cuba who later moved to Las Tunas, where he worked at the Sanlope publishing house for many years. This editor has many books bearing the publisher's imprint, and Tal como aquí te cuento is a worthy example of their edition.
In the first story, Rachel is an artist, and she colors like any renowned painter because at her young age she draws green suns, because in her imagination they are green, and in a little girl's imagination, clouds can also be any color she prefers.
Furthermore, the house of the three Goldilocks bears could be purple, or it could be Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother's house. But the best part of the story is that Rachel decides to give her drawings to her friends and prefers to give them with a letter enclosed thanking them for their friendship.
In the second story, this little girl's antics also make even the most serious readers laugh. It's hard to say that grown-ups don't see cartoons. The best part is when her great-grandmother replies that cartoons are for all ages, and Rachel can't keep quiet and tells her that she, or rather, her great-grandmother, is already extraordinary.
There are many clever children these days, where from the moment they are born, they are almost born knowing, and of course Rachel is no exception.
In Grandpa's Birthday, the author's third installment in this book, as its title indicates, it's Rachel's grandfather's birthday, a story like any other, very well told and where love also reigns, as in every children's story, regardless of the theme, as is the case here.
Grandpa's birthday is coming, and not many people come to wish him a happy birthday, not even the neighbors in the building where they live. Rachel keeps passing by Grandpa and saying happy birthday, filling the gap left by the people she thinks should wish him a happy birthday but haven't come.
In the next story in the book, Rachel is an expert at gift-giving. She discovered that her mother has a lot of soap, and every time someone comes to visit, she gives them soap. Because Rachel is grown and can make decisions, of course, her friends later talk to the family about returning the soaps that Rachel is giving them without asking permission.
Although the story's ending isn't entirely clear in this installment, leaving it a bit uncertain, a bit open-ended, as they say, it's a good children's story or a chapter to tell the stories of Rachel's life.
Rachel turns against her mother in the next story and opposes everything her mother does or says. It's a rather short story. It provides a quick resolution; it's possible this story would have been very juicy and had a good conflict. So far, and perhaps only because of the short story, it's the one readers will enjoy the least.
In the sixth story or chapter—because this book is already a short novel with the same characters, where each story becomes a short chapter—the book's protagonist plays between nostalgia and joy with the photos of her memories. She gives them to her father, who isn't clear if he's going on a business trip, but judging by the expressions, it seems like a divorce. He returns them, as if he doesn't want to know about his family or if he'll return soon. For a child, some things should be made clear depending on the literary theme.
Like every child, Rachel also has a pet. And in the seventh installment, she has a dachshund with all the characteristics of a small animal like Chary. And it happens, as in every family, when an animal comes home and begins to manifest itself, that the adults get bored with the things they do and want to punish them. That's also the case in this book, which won the Little Prince Award in 2006.
Finally, all children want to grow up to govern themselves because they have no idea that things will never be the way they imagined they were little. They won't be able to wake up whenever they want, because as adults, life is harder, and they have to think about things other than just work.
That's why, when Rachel realizes that her mother and grandmother are constantly working, that her father always comes home late from work and barely gets any time off, that neighbors and relatives don't have time to visit them because they don't have enough time, because work takes up most of their days, she decides to wait calmly. Because sometimes she wishes her mother had more time to share her fantasies and playtime.
I'd love for you to enjoy it as much as I did. Never stop getting lost in the pages of a good book.

Hace unos días traje un premio Principito, hoy me gustaría hablarles de otro que tambien es merecedor de este lauro.
Premio narrativa, 2006. Ernesto Carralero Bosch. Tal como aquí te cuento, es, indiscutiblemente un cuaderno con un mundo fascinante para los niños. No hay dudas de que Rachel existe y no es solo un personaje de ficción creado por el autor.
Se puede asegurar que, si no es una niña real, los lectores que tuvieron y tienen la posibilidad de leer estas páginas, se imaginan a la niña de estas historias.
En ocho cuentos bien estructurados, el autor narra las ocurrencias de una niña en edad entre 4 y 6 años. Una niña cubana por las características que a veces detallan los personajes o la forma en que se expresan y aditamentos que usan.
También se podrá asegurar que muchos y sin que se mencione la ciudad donde se cuenta, muchos apostarían por Puerto Padre, al mencionar El fuerte de la loma, el malecón y algunos otros sitios de esta ciudad al norte de Las Tunas.
El editor del libro fue Alberto Garrido, excelente escritor cubano, nacido en Santiago de Cuba y posteriormente se trasladó a Las Tunas, donde trabajó en la editorial Sanlope por muchos años. Este editor tiene en su haber muchos libros que llevan el sello de la editorial y Tal como aquí te cuento es un digno ejemplar de su edición.
En la primera historia, Rachel es una artista, y colorea como cualquier pintor de renombre porque a su corta edad dibuja soles verdes, porque en su imaginación son verdes, y en la imaginación de una niña también las nubes pueden ser del color que ella prefiera.
Además, la casita de los tres ositos de Risitos de oro puede ser morada o bien pude ser la casa de la abuela de Caperucita. Pero lo mejor de la historia es que Rachel decide regalar sus dibujos a sus amistades y prefiere regalarlos con una carta incluida donde agradece la amistad.
En el segundo cuento, también las ocurrencias de esta niña hacen de risas a los lectores más serios. Mira que decir que las personas mayores no ven muñequitos. Lo mejor aún es cuando la bisabuela le responde que los muñequitos son para todas la edades y Rachel no se puede quedar callada y le dice que ya ella, o sea la bisabuela está fuera de serie.
Hay muchos niños ocurrentes en estos tiempos, donde ya cuando nacen, casi nacen sabiendo y por supuesto Rachel no es la excepción.
En El cumpleaños del abuelo, tercera entrega que hace el autor en este libro, ya su título lo indica, es el cumpleaños del abuelo de Rachel, un cuento como los demás muy bien contado y donde también reina el amor como en cada historia para niños, tenga el tema que tenga como es el caso.
Cumple años el abuelo y no vienen muchas personas a felicitarlo, incluso ni los vecinos del edificio donde viven. Rachel, pasa a cada rato por al lado del abuelo y le dice felicidades, cubriendo el vacío de las personas que ella piensa deberían felicitarlo y no han venido.
La próxima historia del libro Rachel es una experta haciendo regalos. Descubrió que la mamá tiene muchos jabones y cada vez que alguien llega a la casa a visitarlos ella les regala jabones. Porque Rachel es grande y puede tomar decisiones, por supuesto las amistades luego hablan con la familia sobre devolver los jabones que la niña les está regalando sin pedir permiso.
Aunque en esta entrega, no está muy claro el cierre de la historia, queda un poco en dudas, un poco abierta como se diría popularmente, es un buen cuento para niños o un capítulo para contar las historias de la vida de Rachel.
Rachel se pone contra la mamá en la siguiente historia y se opone a todas las acciones que hace o dice la mamá. Es un cuento más bien corto. Da la solución muy rápida, es posible que hubiera sido muy jugosa esta historia y haber tenido un buen conflicto. Hasta el momento y quizás, solo por lo pequeño del cuento sea el que menos se pueda disfrutar por los lectores.
En el sexto cuento o capitulo, porque este libro viene siendo ya una noveleta con mismos personajes donde cada cuento se convierte en un capitulo corto, la protagonista del libro juega entre nostalgias y alegrías con las fotos de sus recuerdos, se las entrega a su papá, que no se aclara si va a un viaje de negocio, pero por las expresiones parece un divorcio, y él las devuelve. Como si no quisiera saber de su familia o si volvería pronto. Para un niño, se deben dejar algunas cosas claras dependiendo del tema literario que se trate.
Como cada niño, Rachel también tiene una mascota. Y en la séptima entrega ella tiene una perra de raza salchicha con todas las características de un animal pequeño como lo es Chary. Y sucede como en cada familia cuando un animal llega a casa y comienza a manifestarse, que los adultos se aburren de las cosas que hacen y los quieren castigar. Eso también pasa en este libro merecedor del premio Principito en el año 2006.
Por último, todos los niños quieren ser grandes para gobernarse porque no tienen idea que nunca va a ser como se imaginan desde pequeños, no van a poder despertarse a la hora que quieran, pues de adulto la vida es más difícil y hay que pensar en otras cosas que no es solo trabajar.
Por eso cuando Rachel se da cuenta que la mamá y la abuela no paran de trabajar, que su papá siempre llega tarde del trabajo y apenas tiene descanso, que las vecinas y los familiares no tienen tiempo de visitarlos porque el tiempo no les alcanza, porque el trabajo ocupa la mayor parte de sus días, entonces decide esperar con calma. Porque ella a veces quisiera que su mamá tuviera más tiempo para acompañarla en sus fantasías y a la hora de jugar.
Me encantaría que pudieran disfrutarlo como yo lo he hecho. Nunca dejen de perderse en las páginas de un buen libro.
