As a practiced Executor, and it was not by choice, am very aware that it is first a business. My best friend and Roommate had a Pre-arrangement contract that was basically bare bones, so I have her remains up until the day we would be buried together. Even cremation is not cheap and I recall that there was a $500 charge for the cardboard box! "I could have got a free appliance box from my Hardware store!"
I remember on much more than one occasion have observed these Advisors(Salesmen) do the 'bait and switch' emotionally vulnerable mourners into buying more lavish and profitable products.
An advance Pre-planned arrangement is best that it takes the decision making off your family and YOU having the time to make clear rational choices. Put it down on paper.
