Underrated Books Everyone Should Read At Least Once

in Hive Book Club4 days ago

Have you ever read a book and enjoyed it so much that you wish everyone in the world would read it at least once? I’m sure my mom also felt this way when she’d tell us about her reads. My mum is a book lover. During her teenage days when she had all the free time in the world to do whatever she liked, she read lots of books, especially books by James Hadley Chase. She could spend hours talking about his books. She talked about his works with enthusiasm, and from the way she gesticulates while narrating his stories, you’d know that she wished she wasn’t the only one who had read the book. It would have been so much fun if my mom could relate the books to another person who had read them. The literary world is vast. There are millions of books out there, and every year, writers around the world keep publishing new books. Book lovers keep talking about the latest trends on blogs and on different social media platforms.

However, have you ever stumbled upon a book that no one seems to have read? No one has ever talked about them on social media platforms or written a blog about them anywhere. No one except you, and you just wish that your fellow book lovers would read it so that you guys can talk about it together. At every slightest opportunity, I talk about my favorite book, Night Train. Many times, I have asked people both on Hive and off Hive if they have read this book, and a 100 out of 100 people haven’t. It awes me that a book this good has not been discovered by many people. It is like discovering a gold mine where no one has ever mined before. Aside from me, my sister, and my mom, I have never come across another book lover who has read Night Train. Night Train by Judith Clarke is what I like to call an underrated book.

Underrated books are literary gems that many people are yet to discover. I have read many underrated books that I wish would magically gain world recognition. In this post, I’ll share some of my underrated books. I have some of them in my library, and every now and then, I go back to check them out.

One of the most underrated books I have ever read is Code Girls by Liza Mundy. Interestingly, I came across this book in a movie. My memories are a bit hazy and I don’t remember what movie it was. But I’m pretty sure it was romantic American movie. A character mentioned the book in the movie, and somehow, that caught my attention and I proceeded to download it. “The Untold Story of the American Code Breakers of the World War II.” This is written in the cover page of the book and it tells what the book is about. Many people only know about 20% of the things that happened during the world war? Did you know that America trained college women during the Second World War and used them to break codes from the Japanese and Germans? Thanks to their heroic deeds, they saved America from destructive forces.

For many years, their heroic deeds went I noticed by people, until Lizy Mundy published this book. You’d also be surprised to know that during the world war, Africans who were farmers in their lands were forced to learn how to shoot and kill. I recommend you read Code Girls by Liza Mundy, not only is it interesting, it is also insightful.

Another underrated book you should read is Night Train by Judith Clarke. Yes, I have recommended this book a hundred times, or maybe more. But here I am again, doing it once more. This book is my favorite and it is one of the best books I have ever read. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

How about you? What underrated books have you read?

There are many books in the vast literary world for all tastes, we can only suggest and perhaps those readers will not find the gold we see, which can be frustrating but therein lies the richness of diversity.

I might suggest the novel Demian by Herman Hesse, who is an excellent storyteller and his work has been underrated.

I seemed to have seen this book before because it looked vaguely familiar (or there's a book with similar cover to it that I've read), but anyway I'm quite intrigued what this book is all about—I mean you seemed too attached to it so I guess it's has a profound message that left a mark on you. I'll try to look for a copy of it...and I'll see if it'll also leave a mark on me.

Thanks for the recommendation...I don't know if this is underrated, but there's a certain novel that came to my mind while reading this one, and it's Memoirs of A Geisha by Arthur Golden. I read it way back, my first year in junior high, and up until now, I still can remember it. So I guess it's worth sharing :)

When I read Night Train, I fell in love with books even more. The novel made me feel so emotional, which is something that rarely happens. The plot, the characters, and the dialogue are just perfect.

Thank you so much for your recommendation.❤️❤️🌹

I'm curious...was it tragic or was it full of drama? The entirety of the book seemed to capture you, so I want to know what genre it is.

And you're welcome! It's a pleasure to.
