Gus, levántate que se va a hacer tarde! Se escuchaba desde lo lejos.
Era Gusi, la mamá de Gustavo, un gusanito de 7 años, a quien le costaba pararse de la cama para ir al colegio, siempre pensaba por qué debía irse tan temprano cuando solo quería dormir más.
Al rato, Guni, se acerca, “Gus, ya escuchaste a mamá, vamos a levantarse para arreglarte, ya nosotras estamos listas”. Guni, era su otra mamá, y aunque parezca extraño Gus tenía la fortuna de tenerlas por partida doble.
Así que Gus termina por obedecer, se levanta, se asea y se arregla para el colegio. Guni y Gusi lo llevan juntas y cada una se despide con un beso antes de partir a trabajar. Sus amigos ven esto muy raro, pero para Gus resulta normal tener 2 mamás.
Sin embargo, no siempre fue así, cuando era más pequeño comenzó a comparar que los otros gusanitos vivían con una mamá y un papá, pero él no, vivía solo con mamá, y a papá lo veía solo en su cumpleaños y para navidad. Eso no es justo! –pensaba-, yo quiero ser como los demás gusanitos!.
Mamá cada vez se sentaba a explicarle que no siempre las cosas eran como se quiere, pero que lo importante era ser feliz con lo que se tiene, y que Gus tenía lo más importante, que era todo el amor que tanto mamá como papá le podían dar.
Pasado el tiempo, llegó la otra mamá, no era tan joven como la suya, pero si muy amable y cariñosa, ella convenció a papá de mudarse más cerca de su casa para poderlo ver más seguido, y fue de esta manera como su familia creció.
Los horarios y rutinas cambiaron, ahora había noches en las que estaba con solo chicas, días en los que compartía con papá “cosas de hombres” y momentos en los que los cuatro se sentaban a comerse una merienda o cenar.
Gus por eso no se sentía diferente sino especial, tenía algo que los demás no, y aunque podía resultar extraño, él entendió que su felicidad venía con no ser convencional, porque siendo como era tenía no solo más amor de sus padres, sino triple ración de helado…

Mom would sit down with him and explain that things don't always turn out the way you want them to, but that the important thing is to be happy with what you have, and that Gus had the most important thing, which was all the love that both his mom and dad could give him.
As time went by, his other mom arrived. She wasn't as young as his own mom, but she was very kind and loving. She convinced his dad to move closer to her house so he could see him more often, and that's how his family grew.
Schedules and routines changed. Now there were nights when he was with just the girls, days when he shared "guy stuff" with his dad, and times when the four of them sat down to a snack or dinner.
That's why Gus didn't feel different, but special. He had something the others didn't, and although it might seem strange, he understood that his happiness came from being unconventional, because being the way he was meant not only more love from his parents, but also triple the ice cream…
