As we all know, hive is a big system that could easily get overwhelming for a newbie without guidance. So helping a newbie always goes far in determining if he/she would stay or leave.
Thanks to the community, a lot of newbies have found reason(s) to stay and build on hive.
To be fair, if the community doesn't implement any new changes but stays as it is now, it would still be doing very well and thriving in the Blockchain. But I have a few suggestions that can also contribute to the growth of newbies and the community at large.
- Hive Power Up Contests
The first day of every month happens to be the Hive Power Up Day (HPUD).
It is a day to remind/ encourage hivers to think long term and stake (power up) hive.
Staking hive as the name power up implies simply means to build power on hive. This is because staking hive increases voting power which allows the hover to have some control/say on hive.
This is something that many people don't understand when they are new to hive but it is very vital.
Having contests that not only informs/reminds newbies about HPUD but also rewards them for it would be a good addition. Even without the reward, reminding and educating them on it would be a welcome addition.
- Newbies scout
Because I regard this community as a treasure trove for newbies, I feel that any newbie who is yet to discover it is missing a lot and would have a more tedious journey on hive.
If it would be possible to have the community looking out for newbies who are "lost" and guiding them towards the rich resources in this community, it would be a very helpful tool and also lessen the troubles of a newbie.
Oftentimes I see newbie introduction posts in the wrong communities or using the wrong tags or sourcing pictures wrongly. Occasionally, I try to point out corrections for them to follow.
These are just my two suggestions on improving the already well structured community.
I hope that the community continues to thrive and that greater things arise courtesy of it.
