As in the previous post I promised to tell you how my mall tank cleaning would go, here I am today to tell you. But first, I want to wish you a great and very productive start of the week, full of energy.
Today began Holy Week, a time full of reflection and spirituality, and we decided to take advantage of it with enthusiasm and a lot of work. There will be times to rest, but for now, we are focused on our responsibilities.
My husband and I left home early, as always organized and ready. Before starting work, we made a stop at the gas pump to buy a bottle of oil that we needed as a reserve, always prepared for any eventuality. Afterwards, we went to pick up the personnel who would accompany us to clean tank No. 2 of the Costa Azul shopping center.
Como en la publicación anterior les prometí contarles cómo me iría en la limpieza del tanque del centro comercial, aquí estoy hoy para decirles. Pero primero, quiero desearles un inicio de semana genial y muy productivo, lleno de energía.
Hoy comenzó la Semana Santa, una época llena de reflexión y espiritualidad, y nosotros decidimos aprovecharla con entusiasmo y mucho trabajo. Ya habrá momentos para descansar, pero por ahora, estamos enfocados en nuestras responsabilidades.
Mi esposo y yo salimos temprano de casa, como siempre organizados y dispuestos. Antes de comenzar el trabajo, hicimos una parada en la bomba de gasolina para comprar un frasco de aceite que necesitábamos de reserva, siempre prevenidos para cualquier eventualidad. Después, fuimos a buscar al personal que nos acompañaría para efectuar la limpieza del tanque Nº2 del centro comercial Costa Azul.
As is our custom, all team members were on time at their pick-up points. Punctuality is key, as our goal was to arrive early in order to finish as quickly as possible so as not to disrupt the daily dynamics of the mall.
Upon arrival, everyone knew exactly what to do. This was not the first time we had worked together, and that previous experience allowed us to organize ourselves smoothly. However, before we started, each team member ratified his or her position and responsibilities, making sure everyone was aligned. We will soon begin installing the pumps needed for the job.
Como es nuestra costumbre, todos los integrantes del equipo estaban puntuales en sus puntos de recogida. La puntualidad es clave, ya que nuestro objetivo era llegar temprano para poder terminar lo más rápido posible y así no alterar la dinámica diaria del centro comercial.
Al llegar, cada uno sabía exactamente qué hacer. No es la primera vez que trabajamos juntos y esa experiencia previa nos permite organizarnos con fluidez. Sin embargo, antes de iniciar, cada miembro del equipo ratificó su posición y responsabilidades, asegurándonos de que todos estuvieran alineados. Ya que pronto comenzaremos a instalar las bombas necesarias para el trabajo.
To start cleaning the tank, it is essential to first remove all the accumulated water. We originally planned to use two pumps, but upon inspecting the tank we realized that the water level was much higher than agreed. This forced us to improvise and add a third pump to the equipment to ensure that all the water was removed.
Para iniciar la limpieza del tanque, es esencial primero sacar toda el agua acumulada. Originalmente pensábamos usar dos bombas, pero al inspeccionar el tanque nos dimos cuenta de que el nivel del agua era mucho más alto de lo acordado. Esto nos obligó a improvisar y añadir una tercera bomba al equipo para asegurarnos de que toda el agua fuera extraída.
At first, the water came out fairly clear, but as the level dropped, it began to turn more reddish due to the accumulated mud at the bottom. This is a typical challenge we face, but no less shocking.
Al principio, el agua salía bastante clara, pero a medida que el nivel bajaba, comenzó a tornarse más rojiza debido al lodo acumulado en el fondo. Este es un desafío típico que enfrentamos, pero no por ello menos impactante.
With the water out, the guys started brushing the walls and floor of the tank, removing any accumulated debris. This is a crucial part of the job, although I cannot participate directly in this stage. A rather large and complicated iron ladder is used to access the inside of the tank, and being the only lady on the team, everyone takes great care of me. They prefer that I stay behind to monit
or the pumps and take care of the outdoor tasks, something I deeply appreciate.
Con el agua fuera, los muchachos comenzaron a cepillar las paredes y el piso del tanque, eliminando todo residuo acumulado. Esta es una parte crucial del trabajo, aunque yo no puedo participar directamente en esta etapa. Para acceder al interior del tanque se usa una escalera de hierro bastante grande y complicada, y siendo la única dama del equipo, todos me cuidan mucho. Prefieren que me quede monitoreando las bombas y encargándome de las tareas al aire libre, algo que aprecio profundamente.
It is always comforting to feel the support and camaraderie of the team. During the process, I worry about everyone's hydration and well-being. We have a strict rule, every half hour, two members go out for fresh air to avoid dizziness or excessive fatigue. It is a joint effort where everyone plays an important role and we take care of each other.
Siempre es reconfortante sentir el apoyo y la camaradería del equipo. Durante el proceso, me preocupo por la hidratación y el bienestar de todos. Tenemos una regla estricta, cada media hora, dos miembros salen a tomar aire fresco para evitar mareos o fatiga excesiva. Es un esfuerzo conjunto donde cada uno cumple un papel importante y nos cuidamos mutuamente.
Once the initial cleaning is complete, we use clean water to give the tank a final scrubbing with the brushes. We made sure that it was completely shiny before applying the chlorine. This step is fundamental, since the chlorine needs a resting time to fulfill its disinfectant function.
Una vez finalizada la limpieza inicial, utilizamos agua limpia para dar un repaso final al tanque con los cepillos. Nos aseguramos de que quedara completamente reluciente antes de aplicar el cloro. Este paso es fundamental, ya que el cloro necesita un tiempo de reposo para cumplir su función desinfectante.
With the work finished and under a sun that gave no respite, we were all exhausted but satisfied. This kind of work is physically demanding, but the results are always worth it. To seal the day, as is tradition, we took our group photo, a small but meaningful gesture that celebrates our effort and dedication.
Con el trabajo terminado y bajo un sol que no dio tregua, todos estábamos exhaustos pero satisfechos. Este tipo de labor es físicamente demandante, pero los resultados siempre valen la pena. Para sellar el día, como es tradición, nos tomamos nuestra foto grupal, un pequeño pero significativo gesto que celebra nuestro esfuerzo y dedicación.
Team experience, goals and achievements.Finally, we left each team member at home, tired but proud to have completed one more task. These experiences, though exhausting, teach us something new each time and bring us together as a team.
