Today I am once again with you to share a place that captured my attention and I had the opportunity to appreciate it.
This time, it is the "Dos cerritos" treatment plant located in the Agua de Vaca sector, in the municipality of Maneiro, Nueva Esparta state, in our beautiful Margarita Island.
As is my custom, I got up early and headed to the city, since I had to pick up an order at RMW. I opted to take Luisa Cáceres Avenue, which although it is not the shortest way, it has fewer traffic lights, which makes the trip faster. In a stretch of this avenue, there is always a peculiar smell, like a septic tank. This smell is constant in that same place, varying in intensity from one day to another, but as it is something usual in that area, I continued my way to the city.
I picked up my package at RMW and took the same route back.

Hoy me encuentro una vez más con ustedes para compartir un lugar que capturó mi atención y tuve la oportunidad de poderlo apreciar.
En esta oportunidad, se trata de la Planta de Tratamiento "Dos cerritos" ubicada en el sector Agua de Vaca, en el municipio Maneiro del estado Nueva Esparta, en nuestra hermosa Isla Margarita.
Como es mi costumbre, me levanté temprano y me dirigí a la ciudad, ya que tenía que recoger una encomienda en RMW. Opté por tomar la avenida Luisa Cáceres, que aunque no es el camino más corto, tiene menos semáforos, lo que hace el trayecto más rápido. En un tramo de esta avenida, siempre se percibe un olor peculiar, como a fosa séptica. Este aroma es constante en ese mismo lugar, variando en intensidad de un día para otro, pero como es algo habitual en esa área, continué mi camino hacia la ciudad.
Recogí mi encomienda en RMW y tomé la misma ruta de regreso.
When I passed by Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi Avenue again, I noticed that unpleasant smell. This time, with some time to spare and already on my way back, I noticed that they were cutting the brush on the side of the road and this let me see where the unpleasant smell was coming from. One of the workers cutting the brush was standing there taking a break, so I decided to stop and ask him. He explained to me that what I was smelling was coming from the natural plant that treats the sewage from three municipalities.
Al volver a pasar por la avenida Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi, noté nuevamente ese olor poco agradable. Esta vez, con algo de tiempo de sobra y ya en camino de regreso, me percate que estaban cortando la maleza al lado de la carretera y esto me dejó ver de dónde salía ese olor un poco molesto. Uno de los trabajadores que cortan el monte estaba parado tomando un descanso, decidí detenerme para preguntarle. Fue él quien me explicó que lo que estaba oliendo provenía de la planta natural encargada de tratar las aguas residuales de tres municipios.
I was surprised to learn that this odor was characteristic of the area where the treatment plant is located and that its intensity can vary.
Me sorprendió saber que ese olor era característico del área donde se encuentra la planta de tratamiento y que su intensidad puede variar.
Curiously, in front of this plant, across the avenue, there is a residential complex. The impressive thing is that this peculiar smell does not reach there, thanks to the fact that the plant is located on a hill and the air circulation has been meticulously studied to avoid disturbing the residents.
Curiosamente, frente a esta planta, al cruzar la avenida, hay un conjunto residencial. Lo impresionante es que ese peculiar olor no llega hasta allí, gracias a que la planta está ubicada en una colina y se ha estudiado meticulosamente la circulación del aire para evitar molestias a los residentes.
This plant plays a crucial role in wastewater treatment, removing the solid product load and returning the water to the sea through a pumping system that uses pipes to transport it long distances out to sea.
Esta planta juega un papel crucial en el tratamiento de aguas residuales, eliminando la carga de productos sólidos y devolviendo el agua al mar a través de un sistema de bombeo que utiliza tuberías para transportarla a largas distancias mar adentro.
Unfortunately, I was unable to access the plant itself, as entry is restricted to authorized personnel for security reasons. However, I now know that every time I pass by that spot and smell that distinctive aroma, it will be because of the treatment plant.
So after my discovery I continued on my way enjoying the beautiful scenery provided by the dogs.
Lamentablemente, no pude acceder a la planta en sí, ya que el ingreso está restringido a personal autorizado por razones de seguridad. Sin embargo, ahora sé que cada vez que pase por ese punto y perciba ese aroma característico, será debido a la planta de tratamiento.
Así que después de mi descubrimiento continúe mi camino disfrutando del paisaje hermoso que me brindan los perros.
It is fascinating to discover how these facilities work and the positive impact they have on our environment. Although we often overlook these structures, their work is essential to maintaining public health and protecting our natural resources. If it weren't for the fact that they were cutting the brush on the side of the avenue, I would never have seen the treatment plant.

Es fascinante descubrir cómo funcionan estas instalaciones y el impacto positivo que tienen en nuestro entorno. Aunque a menudo pasamos por alto estas estructuras, su labor es esencial para mantener la salud pública y proteger nuestros recursos naturales.
