Last night I received an unexpected call. I was asked to carry out a water inspection at a Unik hotel, as due to the drought, they had to pour water from a cistern into their tank. When in doubt, it is always best to carry out a check to ensure that the water is in optimal condition for consumption.
These types of unforeseen events are part of the routine, and you always have to be alert to the possibility that they may arise. Speed and availability are essential at times like these, so I didn't hesitate to accept the request.
So just as I was about to rest, I had to go out. Despite the inconvenience of changing my plans, I must admit that there is something fascinating about nighttime roads. My husband and I left home as dusk was falling, and the truth is that, as it is not part of my usual work routine, I loved observing the nighttime landscapes that I was able to capture with my lens. The beauty of these scenes surprised me, both in urban and natural spaces.

Ayer en la noche recibí una llamada inesperada. Me solicitaron realizar una inspección del agua en un hotel Unik, ya que debido a la sequía, tuvieron que verter agua de cisterna en su tanque. Ante la duda, lo mejor siempre es realizar una verificación para asegurar que el agua esté en condiciones óptimas para su consumo.
Este tipo de imprevistos forman parte de la rutina y siempre hay que estar atentos a la posibilidad de que surjan. La rapidez y la disponibilidad son esenciales en estos momentos, y por ello no dudé en aceptar la solicitud.
Así que justo cuando me disponía a descansar, tuve que salir. A pesar de la incomodidad de modificar mis planes, debo admitir que hay algo fascinante en los caminos nocturnos. Salimos mi esposo y yo de casa cuando el atardecer ya estaba cayendo, y la verdad es que, como no es lo habitual en mi rutina de trabajo, me encantó observar los paisajes nocturnos que pude capturar con mi lente. La belleza de estos escenarios me sorprendió, tanto en los espacios urbanos como en los naturales.
The shades of color were difficult to describe. There were warm flashes in the sky that mingled with the artificial light of the city, creating a unique atmosphere. A play of light and shadow painted the route, and I stood watching in awe, trying to etch every nuance of the sunset mixed with the clouds into my memory.
Las tonalidades de colores eran difíciles de explicar. Había destellos cálidos en el cielo que se mezclaban con la luz artificial de la ciudad, creando una atmósfera única. Un juego de sombras y luces pintaba el recorrido, y me quedé observando con asombro, tratando de grabar en mi memoria cada matiz del atardecer mezclada con las nubes.
When I arrived at the hotel, I got straight to work with the inspection. The water quality had to be adequate, so I took the necessary measurements. We had to raise the color of the water a little, holding it until the parameters were within normal levels. Finally, we achieved the necessary balance for the water to be suitable, ensuring its optimal quality.
I couldn't take photos inside the facility because there were tourists there and I didn't want to make them uncomfortable with my presence. I know that sometimes hotels prefer us not to wear our identifying clothing, as some guests may be concerned when they see us working, thinking that something is wrong. It's completely understandable that the hotel wants to ensure the peace and tranquility of its guests.
Al llegar al hotel, me puse manos a la obra con la inspección. La calidad del agua tenía que estar en condiciones adecuadas, así que realicé las mediciones correspondientes. Hubo que subir un poco el colorado del agua, sujetándolo hasta que los parámetros estuvieran dentro de los niveles normales. Finalmente, conseguimos el balance necesario para que el agua fuera apta, garantizando su calidad óptima.
Dentro de la instalación no pude tomar fotos, ya que había turistas y no quería incomodarlos con mi presencia. Sé que en algunas ocasiones los hoteles prefieren que no vayamos con nuestra vestimenta identificativa, pues algunos huéspedes pueden preocuparse al vernos trabajar, pensando que ocurre algún inconveniente. Es completamente comprensible que el hotel cuide la paz y tranquilidad de quienes se hospedan allí.

Once the work was finished, we left. But before departing for good, I once again delighted in the nighttime landscape, which I found extraordinarily beautiful. It's curious how, in the midst of setbacks, unexpected moments of connection with the beauty of the environment can arise.
Una vez terminado el trabajo, nos marchamos. Pero antes de partir definitivamente, volví a deleitarme con el paisaje nocturno, que me pareció extraordinariamente hermoso. Es curioso cómo, en medio de los contratiempos, pueden surgir momentos inesperados de conexión con la belleza del entorno.
Since I didn't know if another unexpected event might occur in the coming days and it was already the eve of the weekend, we decided to make one last stop before returning home. We headed to the gas station in Los Robles, which was still open. We took the opportunity to fill up the tank so we would be prepared for any eventuality that might arise in the coming days.
Como no sabía si podría ocurrir otro imprevisto en los próximos días y ya estábamos en vísperas de fin de semana, decidimos hacer una última parada antes de regresar a casa. Nos dirigimos a la bomba de gasolina en Los Robles, que aún estaba abierta. Aprovechamos para llenar el tanque y así estar preparados para cualquier eventualidad que se presentara en los días siguientes.
These minor setbacks are part of everyday life. They are challenges we face from time to time, and it is best to take them in stride, as just another task to be resolved. In the end, every experience brings something valuable, even if it is simply the opportunity to appreciate an unusual landscape or experience a moment that breaks the routine.

Estos pequeños contratiempos forman parte de la vida diaria. Son desafíos que afrontamos de vez en cuando, y lo mejor es asumirlos con tranquilidad, como un trabajo más que hay que resolver.
