The Corpers Week started last week with an event being the first which was called "Endurance Trekking." The National Youth Service Corps is a beautiful and fun programme which lasts for a year with different batches coming to serve in different states. Those serving their fatherland are called Corpers. I am one of them and thankfully, will be ending my service next week.
The corpers in my location decided to host Corpers' Week which is an event so full of fun and entertainment. This was to celebrate the outgoing corpers and mark the event with some spicy programme, and this coming Saturday (weekend) would be a dinner party for the outgoing corpers. We paid some amount of money to fuel the occasion and programme in general.
The Endurance Trekking was held last week on Saturday, unfortunately, I couldn't go because I went to a vigil on Friday and had to take enough rest. I had a long sleep and woke up at past 8 am. The trekking was done at 7 am when all corpers in their sportswear trekked for a long distance. Those who didn't have sportswear wore their NYSC uniform and it was an interesting one. I was at home when I got lots of pictures sent to the group for us to feed our eyes with. I love how they organised the event and I could see the happiness on them as they trekked with some music being played to make it more lively.
On Tuesday which was October 1st and Nigerian Independence Day and as part of the Corpers' Week 2024 celebrations, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Saki West Local Government organized an Inter-School Quiz Competition. The event aimed to promote academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and healthy competition among secondary school students.
I couldn't go because I wasn't informed of it on time. The information got to me so late and I couldn't prepare for it. I didn't let that worry me because I could see it was a success in the end and that was enough to make me happy and grateful for the corps members who hosted the event and it turned out a success.
The competition started at 11 am and ended at 3 pm (4 hours). Thanks to the present corps members for their active participation and support. The planning committee for their tireless efforts in organizing the event. The panellists for their expertise and impartial judgment. The Local Government Inspector (LGI) for his unwavering support and guidance throughout the planning and execution of the competition.

Fourteen (14) schools from Saki West Local Government participated in the competition.
The quiz consisted of three sections; Use of English, Mathematics and General Knowledge. The participants demonstrated exceptional knowledge and skills in the various subjects.
The Inter-School Quiz Competition was a resounding success, promoting academic excellence and intellectual growth among secondary school students. We look forward to future collaborations and events that foster educational development and community engagement.
