My cousin and his family planned to go to Batan Island, located in Rapu-Rapu, Albay, Philippines. They invited us to go with them.
Being a kaladkarin... Of course, we said yes!
It was a sunny afternoon when we made our way to the ferry terminal. We purchased our tickets and boarded the RORO vessel.
It takes around 2 hours when we transfer to another motorized boat.
This boat will take us to Batan Island.
The captain then welcomed us aboard and helped us settle into wooden benches.
As we headed out into the open water, the captain expertly navigated the boat through the choppy waves.
His eyes fixed on the horizon.
The wind whipped through our hair as we sped across the water.
This second ride was shorter.
As we approached the beach, the captain expertly guided the boat into the shallow water, and we leaped out onto the beach.
Finally, we stepped onto the island's soil. We already felt the excitement and wonder.
We then made our way to the house that we were going to accommodate for the next few days.
After putting in our things, we go back to the seashore. It's just a walking distance from where we stayed.
So we excitedly anticipated the soft sands and shimmering water waiting for us.
As we arrived at the beach, the sound of the waves was a soothing background melody.
To pass the time, we decided to wade into the water.
We shared stories, indulged in laughter, enjoyed each other’s company, surrounded by the beauty of nature.
We turned our attention to exploring the shoreline. Wandering along the water’s edge, picking up shells and rocks.
We tossed them back into the waves and carefully tucked the special ones into our pockets as memories to take home.
As the sun began to lower, casting a soft golden light across everything, we let the beauty of the moment wash over us.
The colors of the sea and sky provided inspiration, and we joked about our artistic skills.
We make a message in the air.
I held up my hands, my fingers spread wide and began to spell out a word in the air. My niece finished the two final letters.
L... O... V... E
Ahh, so sweet!
We giggled, feeling like kids again, and snapped a photo to capture the moment.
Finally, the sun kissed the ocean goodnight. Casting a shimmering path of light across the water.
It was a perfect end to a perfect day, with the promise of more adventures waiting just around the corner.
Until our next adventures beyond the shore... Buh-bye. 👋💗
